    Description

    My third Antarctica airport, that is not included in the original game.

    EGAR - Rothera Research Station is a permanent British base in Antarctica. Rough weather and a short 900 meter gravel runway make this a very challenging airport to land at. In real life it is serviced by specially fitted Dash-7 aircraft.

    This being my third project, I am still learning the SDK, but this is my most advanced project so far. It took a ton of terraforming and landscaping since Bing and OpenStreetMap are almost bare down there. Layout, features and services should be rather accurate, including PAPI on runway 180, though I am not sure if the angle is correct. Don't sue me if you crash land your plane, but feel free to comment if you have any ideas on how to improve it. :-) 

    For installation, just drop the unzipped folder into the community folder.

    Do you know if you can replace the aerosoft EGAR with this version. IMO yours is so much better and more detailed but I like the rest of the airports included with Aerosofts antarctica

    @gbeans44 it should be possible but you have to manually adjust scenery indexes (priority) and move this airport to higher priority over the aerosoft package. Also what you can do (I dont have aerosoft package) is to look into their folders and find specific .bgl file for the EGAR airport. If you remove all EGAR files from Aerosoft package then you can use both.

    Oi, did you use my EGAR addon (Deepseagames) to build yours?! Some things look just the same! Yours seems a bit more detailed where I couldn't figure out the program yet. However would have been nice to know or collaborate. I guess with aerosoft beating us both now there's no point in carrying on for me. Nice base though!

    just getting back into the sim, so I am sorry for the late reply.

    I did not use any material from you or anyone else. My airports were done entirely from scratch while I was in Covid quarantine and had too much time on my hands.

    Similiarities may come from the same Asobo stock assets used in parts of the scenerey. Cheers!

    Good Job. I can take off (just) with a fully fueled DC-6A. Will be staging out of there for my North-South Pole series of flights. Will try to land (and stop) tomorrow.

    Thanks, really nice airfield, but the windsock seems to show the wrong direction (180°).

    @757frak @ibe1051 Misunderstanding, I mean the newest MSFS Version (since you said, after the update). So I downloaded it 5 day ago and it works with the newest (latest) Version of MSFS (V 1.14.60).

    I updated and recompiled the scenery. The windsock has been corrected and the scenery should now work for everybody.

    thank you very much for this scenery. In the old fsx I used the addon Antarctica X from Aerosoft. EGAR was my favorite airstrip. You bring it back to us. Great work!
