Description
Simple UI makes the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 menus faster, cleaner and less game-like, while keeping the sim's own look. It only changes the menus. Nothing runs in flight, and no sim files are modified.
What it does
Aircraft gallery & list Pick your aircraft from a gallery that fills the screen and scrolls down, or from a compact list. Search by name, manufacturer or variant, and heart your favourites. The stock tiles are still one click away.
Setup panel Variant, livery (with thumbnails) and identification are right in aircraft selection. No 3D preview to wait for. Fuel & payload and Mass & balance are one click away.
Tail number from the livery Pick a livery and its registration goes into the tail number field. Simple UI reads it from the livery's files or its name. It updates every time you change livery or variant.
Favourites on Free Flight Your favourite aircraft and liveries appear as tiles on the Free Flight screen, most recently used first. One click puts you in that aircraft and livery, tail number included.
Weather & time bar Live, preset or custom weather and the time of day in one bar.
- Live weather: includes a slider for the past 24 hours.
- Time: one click for Now, Dawn, Day, Dusk or Night.
- Memory: your last choice comes back the next time the sim starts.
Faster menus Menu animations are cut to a fraction of their length, and images appear the moment they load, with no fade-ins or hovering to make them show up.
Every feature can be switched on or off in the app.
Installation
- Run the installer from the ZIP. No admin rights needed.
- Simple UI finds MSFS 2024 and your Community folder by itself (Microsoft Store, Xbox app or Steam). Press Install.
- Start the sim.
Don't copy anything into the Community folder yourself. The app does it, and rebuilds Simple UI after sim updates.
Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" because the installer isn't code-signed. Click More info → Run anyway.
Compatibility
- MSFS 2024 only. Windows 10/11. Microsoft Store, Xbox app and Steam versions.
- Other mods that replace the same main-menu component can't load together with Simple UI. The app detects them and can set them aside (moved out of the Community folder, nothing deleted) and put them back later.
Uninstall
Windows Settings → Apps → Simple UI → Uninstall. This also removes it from the sim.
Problems?
In the app, go to Options → Troubleshooting → Open logs, and attach the log to your comment along with what happened.

SimpleUI | There, I fixed MSFS UI for you
SimpleUI streamlines the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 menus by providing a cleaner and faster user interface while maintaining the simulator's original look. It enhances aircraft selection with a searchable gallery and list, and improves access to setup options and weather controls. The add-on operates only within menus and does not affect in-flight performance or modify sim files. All features are customizable, and compatibility is limited to MSFS 2024 on Windows 10 or 11.

Version History
NEW - Scrollbar in the weather preset list (and the livery list): drag it, or click the bar to jump. Handy with hundreds of presets. - Favourite liveries show on the aircraft: an aircraft whose livery you hearted gets a half-bright heart in the gallery and list. FIXED - Favourites on Free Flight no longer cover the location search results. The strip steps aside while results show and sits a little lower. - Aircraft groups: the "..." menu (Rename) went off the right edge on large screens. It now always stays inside the panel. - Microsoft Store / Xbox app: the sim is now found wherever it was installed (any drive or folder you chose in the Xbox app), not only in XboxGames.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. Here's what's new in this update.
A quick note: I don't plan to keep piling on features. The whole idea of Simple UI is to stay simple. For this release I picked the suggestions I found most useful and added a few ideas of my own.
Enjoy, and I hope it makes MSFS a bit more bearable next to that console-style UI I hate lol!
NEW
- Favourite airports: heart any airport in Free Flight's Departure / Arrival search. Your favourites are listed first every time you open either box, one click away.
- Aircraft groups: versions of the same model (e.g. the Fenix A319 / A320 / A321 variants) are grouped automatically. Make your own groups with the + on any aircraft (e.g. "A350s", "737s", "Business Jets"), and rename or ungroup them from the **⋯** menu.
- Groups show as sections you can fold with a click, and there's a **Collapse all / Expand all** button in the toolbar. Grouping stays on with the Favourites filter.
- Recent: the last aircraft you flew, right at the top of the aircraft list.
- Time: once a departure airport is set, the time shows both local time and UTC (e.g. 0400Z).
FIXED
- Typing in the aircraft search no longer triggers the sim's keyboard shortcuts (H for help, Q / E to change tabs…).
- Steam: Simple UI now finds the sim's menus on Steam installs in custom libraries and folders (the "sim menus NOT FOUND" error). If it still can't, the log lists every place it looked.
- The aircraft list opens instantly when you come back to it. It's shown right away while the sim reloads its own list in the background.
- No more stray sounds from the hidden original aircraft tiles. Simple UI's buttons now play the sim's normal menu click.
- Less background work on the aircraft setup panel.
Really recommend my other addon if you want to find your next flight, start your career or fly with your new VA or one of the existent VAs, its available here with a lot of people active every day: https://flightsim.to/addon/105102/flyhub-airline-career-telemetry-and-flight-tracking-platform

Although I kinda hoped the controls settings menu had also been redone, since it's a pain to use. Especially since recently, now it just blocks the UI thread every time it's searching.
If you do decide to tackle that one eventually, that'd be amazing, but I'll just be happy with what you did provide for now, thanks!

I have a feature request: could you add favorites for parking positions (stands/gates) as well? Right now I can only favorite airports in the departure search. I often fly cargo flights and always choose the same stands at certain airports, so being able to save and quickly select favorite parking spots would save me a lot of time.
Thanks a lot for considering it!

I had to do a couple of re installs of the sim, and one thing that I noticed (even prior to installing the app) was that MICROSOFT menus (not yours! were overlapping one another. I was wondering if this is because I'm running the sim in a 16:9 2k ratio?
Definitely not your application, really hope that I can get it working again, because it improves things enormously. Hope that you can help me with this one little oddity.
Thanks in advance,
Andrew.

Earlier today I came across a YouTube video showcasing this mod and installed it immediately.
After testing SImpleUI i have to say that it is fantastic and more than we could have hoped for. I Love all the additional features like groups, list view, favorite airports, quick setup panel etc.
This is a great QOL addon for all users of MSFS 2024.
Thank you for creating SimpleUI

I am surprised that the order of favourite aircraft appears to be random. It would be even easier to select favourites if the list was alphabetical (or even alphabetical by type) ... Just a thought.
