Newest Release Candidate of the airport serving the capital city region of California.
Situated along Interstate 5 just north of Downtown Sacramento, KSMF offers easy access to many areas of northern California. The airport, having undergone major renovations in the first part of the 21st Century, offers a tasteful collision of small town charm, beautiful works of art and modern design elements showcasing the diversity of the Capital Region of California.
This is my first go at any FS addon, and I have just started learning 3d modeling, so please forgive any visual glitches. Please advise of any issues you encounter when using this scenery.
As always, please send me a message or leave a comment with any glitches or errors you notice - I am very far from perfect!

I'm hoping someone really adds some love this freeware version of KSMF. Because even the payware version by DoubleT is not very good and definetely not worth $18. It misses so much detail. People need to stop doing rushed jobs of airports just to make a dime and get their name mentioned on this site.

Wow, for a novice content creator you did a pretty impressive job with KSMF. it certainly is a huge improvement over the default airport, for sure. And I would just like to sincerely offer my condolences for the loss of your dear family member who passed. May you and your family find some measure of peace and hope as you move forward, trying to cope with such tragedy. With very warm regards, I wish you all the best. Take care, friend.

I just wanted to echo the sentiments of others. As a placer co. native it was nice to see SMF Modeled more accurately. thank you for your work and for the recommendation of the payware version!

I am sorry you are disengaging in this project. You have done a remarkable job, but I understand. I checked the pay ware version, and it has some glaring errors. I prefer your version. Hoping you will reconsider and continue your fine work.

While I can't begin to consider this at the moment, I will keep your comment in mind should I find inspiration and energy to return to the project once my family life gets back to some form of baseline ....

Having some odd behavior . Took off from KSMF today and have checkerboard taxiways . Landed yesterday and did not have them. Had them few days ago when landing at night. Here is screenshot
Of taxing to 17R …

Just went to take off from 35L on the latest version and noticed duplicate taxiway signs and floating lines along with some weird green blocks on the taxiways in spots. I do have the Blackbox US/EU taxiway sign addon but that wouldn't cause dup signs or floating lines.

would you send me screenshots? I cannot replicate

Hi sorry I only just saw your request, but I also just saw your update so I guess I'll just move to the payware version. I had been wondering if it was any good after I saw it pop up recently as I've never heard of the dev before so I'm glad to hear it's worth it and will pick it up.

My home airport, here at least once a month, it looks great. I've noticed a few issues with the new release:
I don't recall seeing this on earlier releases.

thanks for the detailed info - I will look into it
I wasn't happy with the ground markings I was getting from MSFS built in, so I modeled them based on satellite imagery and added them to the package - now to just line up the taxi paths with the ground markings I created ...
With my computer beginning to show it's age, it's a bit of a time consuming issue - particularly since these types of details are not easily fine tuned in ADE (beta version for MSFS2020 thanks to Jon (scruffyduck) who is doing all the dev work on the AWESOME product that ADE is and will be when he's done ... but he has limits on his time and so I am adjusting to working directly in the SDK in sim (which is a resource intensive application that is still being perfected in its own right - no shade to ASOBO - they are working on it, and I just need to be patient))
I don't doubt that the length of time that I have consumed working on this must be maddening to all y'all, and I am grateful for your patience and continued interest in the project and valuable feedback!
FORWARD LOOKING STATEMENT - not a guarantee:
I'm also considering just modeling the actual KSMF Jetbridges and learning how to turn them into SimObjects on my own - I have been using the standard ASOBO jet bridges from the SDK, but I can't seem to get them to go where I am thinking I have placed them - they don't seem to stay where I put them when I compile the project in the SDK ...

Great work with the update, if i could donate i will.

I appreciate the feedback .. it's a labor of love to get this done well, and as such I can't accept your very kind and generous offer to give a donation - the feedback and assistance locating bugs is greatly appreciated and much more valuable to me at this point .....
If you still want to donate something, I would kindly ask for it to be given to The Trevor Project (https://www.thetrevorproject.org/ ) as they're a vital non-profit that I wish would have been around when I was a teenager! They do great work with teens and young adults, trying to eliminate suicide in LGBTQIA+ youth dealing with identity and orientation questions/realizations.

I know there isn't any addons for ksmf yet, but this one still somewhat comes close to ksmf, and i love it so far!

Notice taxi lines and markings are floating a bit and some gates and their parking lines are not aligned

i have attempted to get the ground textures more closely aligned, but I know it's still needing more fine tuning ... please let me know if this release shows improvement for you
