    Description

What does it actually cost to own that aircraft?

GARealistic is a companion app that turns your MSFS GA flying into a complete aircraft ownership and pilot training simulation.

Every hour you fly costs money — fuel at the going rate, oil changes, tire wear, brake wear, engine time. Land hard enough and you'll crack a gear strut. Hammer the brakes on every rollout and the pads wear down. Push past the red line and the airframe pays for it. Leave the aircraft parked for months and the battery goes flat. Park overnight away from home base and you'll pay for it in the morning.

When components degrade far enough, the failures show up in the sim. Worn-out brakes fail. A neglected vacuum pump kills your attitude indicator. Run the engine ragged and watch the damage percent climb. Fix it at the repair shop — if the airport has a mechanic — and the failures clear.

🏢 NEW — Found Your Own Company

Stop flying for hire and start owning the operation. Found a GA airline or cargo carrier with its own fleet, finances, and staff, fully separate from your personal flying and bank account.

✈️ Cargo & Passenger Routes — recurring cargo contracts and scheduled passenger routes, both shaped by the destination's real-world catchment population and economic profile.

👥 Hire Pilots (Real or AI) — bring on other GARealistic pilots as employees paid by salary, per-flight, or profit-share — or assign an AI pilot to fly routes you don't have time for. Your company keeps earning while you're logged off.

📊 Officers & Equity — bring in co-owners as CEO/CFO/COO/CMO/Director with a real cap table; dividends split automatically by equity stake.

🏦 Company Financials — its own ledger, P&L, loans, and payroll, fully isolated from your personal wallet.

📍 Multi-Hub Growth — expand beyond one base to co-equal economic hubs, each with its own cargo/charter board.

Managed from the Company and Employment tabs. Requires a free community account — company identity and hiring other pilots are inherently online.

    ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

    🌐 Community Platform

GARealistic now has an online hub — a shared space for the entire GARealistic community. This is optional - the app will work standalone.

🗺️ Live Flight Map — see other GARealistic pilots flying in real time. Your aircraft appears on the map the moment you start a flight, with callsign, aircraft type, altitude, and a trail of your route.

📋 Community Logbook — every completed flight is automatically synced online. Browse the full community log or filter to your own flights.

🛬 Airport Browser — search thousands of airports with runways, frequencies, ILS approaches, based aircraft, fuel prices, mechanic services, and local amenities.

⛽ Community Fuel Prices — signed-in pilots can report real fuel prices and vote on airport services. The more pilots who fly, the richer the data gets.

✅ Community Checklists — share your custom per-aircraft checklist and browse/vote on checklists other pilots have built for the same aircraft type.

Sign in with a free community account on first launch, or continue in standalone mode with all local features intact.

Loving this so far as I was getting burned by the built-in mission modes.
I do wish that the process for getting ratings/certificates was a little clearer. I decided to start from no licenses or ratings. My checkride pre-reqs have some maneuvers checked that my training log doesn't and vice-versa. It also approved my stall training when all i did was get stall horn during ground effect on landing.
It also lists that I need 'instrument training' but not how I'm supposed to get that?
Overall amazing app and just wanted to list the above to bring to your attention.
Looking forward to everything else you bring to this addon.

Fantastic as a detailed flight log app if you don't want to focus on the costs/maintenance side of things, you can just bypass all that and have it Track your hours, distance, places/airports,countries visited and auto export .kml fligh paths for displaying in Google Earth - Amazing for RTW trips or just long term flight logging.
The money, jobs and maintenance side of things adds another level of fun, along with performing taring/check rides with all of this being optional so, not stressful until you're ready.
Can't believe this is a free app and how responsive the dev is on discord with fixes and adding suggestions, truly a Swiss Army knife app!

What's with the ton of DLL files included in the EFB version of the download?
    j

Those DLLs belong to the desktop app, not the EFB itself — the zip bundles both. The desktop app is a self-contained .NET/WPF build, meaning it ships its own copy of the .NET runtime so you don't need to install anything separately — that's what accounts for the DLL count (a lot of it is just per-language resource files, e.g. the cs/de/es/fr folders). The actual EFB package is just JS/HTML/JSON — no DLLs in it at all.

Hi, Im trying to import my aircraft and it correctly locates the community folder addons. But I don't see the streamed aircraft from FS2024, for example the C185. I added the packages folder in the paths section but still only see the non-default aicraft only

Might be cuz the planes are streamed in? That sort of makes sense now. Wondering why I went thru the trouble of selecting which of the planes it did discover that I wanted (perhaps my 2020 planes?) to own outright only to load a plane in sim and GAr recognizing it as a brand new plane :-)
    j

Yea, these need to be downloaded to your community folder for discovery.

You can however, load up the airplane in msfs and register it manually. It should then self discover when you load into the airplane again.

Thanks for the quick additions, but the SimBrief issue still persists. Please keep the Fetch SimBrief OFP button available at all times. Right now, if I load a SimBrief plan and then want to replace it with a different one, the button disappears and I have to restart the app before I can fetch another OFP. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for the button to disappear after it’s used once.

Also, please remove the message that says:

"Enter your Pilot ID in Settings > General, then click Fetch OFP" from the flight planning page.

The app should check whether a SimBrief Pilot ID is already configured. If it is, that message should disappear. It makes sense to leave it visible when no Pilot ID has been entered, but showing it when the ID is already set can make users think the missing Fetch OFP button is caused by a settings problem rather than the button simply becoming unavailable after the first use.

This should be fixed now in the latest update, please check and let me know.

Please, can you fix some basic things. The tail number not matching the database plane even tho is set to ignore in options, yet the interface still mentions it. Also, please make fetching from simbrief persistent. Sometimes I pull down a flight plan from simbrief and then want to change it. But once you pull the plan down from the app, you have to restart it in order to get the fetch option again. Please code it so it stays available all the time.

Sorry, about that. Latest update should fix your issues. Please let me know if you still have any difficulties, suggestions, or ideas you would like implemented. Thanks!

Hello! Can I use this app along with another career oriented apps for more immersion? Use this as garage management system. Is there a way to earn "money" elsewhere to spend it on the aircraft monitored by this app?
    j

Hi… Yes, you certainly could use another career app with GARealistic.
Adding bits to airplanes is a little beyond the capabilities of the app… what did you want to upgrade?

well, it looks like i have to put some data as money and locations from another app by hand i suppose. I haven't used ur app before so idk how simple is to edit data that i will get from another app.

Can you join discord channel and explain what you’re trying to connect to and what data you want to pull. Will see if I can do something for you, but I need more details.

There are no words to describe this masterpiece. It connects directly to the aircraft's POH, reads the aircraft's data, and does it properly. This is the GA companion app nobody has ever built seriously. Absolutely incredible!

    GA Realistic

Every hour you fly costs money. GARealistic adds the full weight of aircraft ownership to MSFS — fuel bills, component wear from your actual flying habits, and real in-sim failures when you neglect maintenance. Work charter, cargo, medevac, and backcountry jobs to cover the costs, build a five-tier pilot reputation, grade your IFR approaches and ACS maneuvers against practical test standards, and track everything in a searchable logbook — with a live EFB tablet app for in-cockpit access. Works with MSFS 2024 and 2020.

    Version History

GARealistic 1.20.0 AUTO-UPDATE IS FIXED Auto-update had silently stopped working for most users. Two separate causes, both fixed: the stable feed had been pushed out of the only page the updater ever reads, and any install running a beta build was pinned to the stable channel, where it could never be offered an update again. If you've been sitting on an older version and never saw an update appear, this release is what un-sticks you. Future updates will download in the background and offer an "Update & Restart" button on the dashboard. - New Auto update channel, now the default - it follows whichever build you installed instead of assuming stable. COULD STOP THE APP OPENING AT ALL - The app could fail to launch with no window and no error for some users, and the log said nothing about why. - MSFS connection could fail on some machines with nothing in the log to act on. COMPANY - New Aircraft Market - browse and buy aircraft. The two figures the app used to value an airframe disagreed by about 30%. - Adding a hub and withdrawing a dividend had never once worked, and blamed your connection for it. - Wet lease and insurance controls never saved - six other company writes were failing the same way in silence. - The company ledger printed garbled text on every cargo run, fuel charge, penalty and salary row. - Passenger routes threw away the satisfaction score they spent the whole flight computing. - Cabin passengers now need the lavatory - catering and briefings matter. - Alaskan seats sold for a dollar, and company repairs cost nothing. APPEARANCE - Light and dark colour schemes. The app had exactly one, enforced by 924 hardcoded colour values across 105 files. FLYING & TRAINING - Engine gauges lagged the aircraft by up to two seconds - every reading was polled instead of subscribed. - Every gear reading on record was on the wrong scale, so old landing reports failed a gear check you actually passed. - The training grader skipped real maneuvers and graded landings as stalls. - Helicopters had no working rotor reading, and every aircraft showed left/right fuel tanks whether it had them or not. - The stall warning had never once lit up for anyone running the desktop app. EFB - The Passengers tab had never rendered for anyone. Installation: Extract zip. Copy GARealistic-v1.20.0\ folder to your preferred location and run GARealistic.exe. Copy garealistic-efb\ folder to your MSFS Community folder.
