This section collects freeware VFR enhancement add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, created by community developers from around the world. VFR enhancements are scenery add-ons specifically designed to improve the low-altitude flying experience — adding objects, structures, and reference points that help virtual pilots navigate visually and make the world beneath their wings feel genuinely alive and recognisable. This category covers a broad range of add-ons, from visual reporting points (VRPs), radio towers, antennas, wind turbines, chimneys, and water towers placed at real-world navigation reference locations, to photorealistic improvements for specific coastal areas, lakeshores, and local landmarks that VFR pilots rely on for orientation. Notable projects such as We Love VFR add thousands of OSM-based real-world objects across entire global regions, while smaller add-ons address specific locations with VFR reporting points, corrected POI markers, and custom landmarks. Whether you are flying circuits, cross-country VFR routes, or low-level scenic flights, these add-ons make chart-based navigation and visual flying significantly more rewarding. All add-ons are free to download.

The sites include accurately modeled cooling towers, reactor domes, stacks, and specific plant facilities with textures from aerial imagery. Visual effects such as steam plumes and accurate lighting are included, with all locations marked as points of interest. The package removes default scenery within these sites and includes collision-ready structures for enhanced realism.

Each site is modeled using official swisstopo survey data for accurate representation. The package includes realistic architectural features and textures, with point-of-interest markers for each location. Default scenery at these sites is replaced by custom models, and all buildings include collision and multiple levels of detail.

This add-on delivers a detailed visual update to the entire Long Island area in Microsoft Flight Simulator, enhancing scenery from the Queens-Nassau border to Suffolk County's Twin Forks. Improvements include accurately placed water towers, aerials, static trains, land corrections, and various small landmarks. The package also provides updates to airports and airfields, improving realism for VFR flying. Several libraries and recommended companion mods are required for full functionality.

The package also includes the nearby Monument to the Sagardía Column, a concrete and marble imperial eagle structure. Both landmarks provide historical context to the Burgos region scenery.

This add-on enhances Juan Santamaría International Airport MROC in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with the newly built Arrivals Terminal near COOPESA, modeled after its 2026 construction. It is an early release, with additional elements from the original X-Plane version planned for future updates. The mod requires the VPilot Designs MROC scenery and is intended as an enhancement for that specific version. Compatibility with other MROC renditions, such as Alvargas MROC, has not been confirmed.
