    This section collects freeware terrain enhancement add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, developed by community creators from around the world. Terrain enhancements focus on correcting and improving the ground elevation data, water masking, and surface accuracy that underpin every flight in the simulator — fixing issues such as rivers floating above their valleys, lakes at incorrect elevations, airport surroundings spiking into the terrain, incorrect coastlines, and photogrammetry anomalies that the default simulator leaves unaddressed. Add-ons range from high-resolution elevation mesh packages derived from LIDAR and Sentinel satellite data — covering entire countries at 5m, 10m, or 20m resolution — to pinpoint fixes for specific airports, river valleys, mountain passes, and coastal areas. Notable examples include detailed mesh upgrades for Switzerland, Austria, the Canary Islands, and Jammu and Kashmir, as well as targeted river flattening and water mask corrections across the United States, New Zealand, and beyond.
