    About this project

The A2A Accu-Sim Legacy RG550 is an upcoming high-performance experimental aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Based on the Lancair Legacy RG550, the project marks A2A Simulations' first venture into the experimental kit-built aircraft category while continuing the company's focus on highly realistic general aviation simulations.

Like previous A2A releases, the Legacy RG550 is built around the Accu-Sim 2.0 platform, featuring custom flight physics, persistent aircraft ownership, deep systems simulation, bespoke sound design, and detailed engine modeling. The aircraft is based directly on a real Legacy RG550 owned and flown by A2A founder Scott Gentile, allowing the team to continuously refine the simulation using firsthand operational experience.

The aircraft will include multiple avionics configurations, custom Garmin G5 instrumentation, laser-scanned and photogrammetry-assisted modeling, and persistent wear that evolves as the aircraft is flown. A2A has stated that the unique characteristics of each individually built Legacy make it an ideal candidate for its ownership-focused simulation philosophy.

Recent development updates indicate that progress continues steadily, with additional refinements resulting from repeated visits to the real aircraft. Rather than rushing the release, A2A has delayed the project to further improve numerous small details discovered during real-world operation.

Quick update on the Accu-Sim Legacy RG550

    Hello everyone,

We wanted to give you a quick update on the Accu-Sim Legacy RG550. Development is progressing well, and we're now targeting a Q3 2026 release.

Over the past few months, Scott has made several trips back to the real aircraft to answer questions from the team. What starts as a quick trip to record a sound or verify a detail often ends with a familiar message:

    "Guys, I just realized something..."

That "something" usually turns into another sound, another system behavior, or another little quirk of the aircraft that we want to bring into the simulation.

None of these discoveries have been major on their own, but they've added up, and the Accu-Sim Legacy is better for it. One of the advantages of owning and operating the aircraft you're simulating is that you never stop learning about it. Weeks, months, and even years of real-world experience continue to reveal new details, behaviors, and nuances, and each one is an opportunity to make the simulation even more authentic.

We're excited about what these additions bring to the Legacy and look forward to showing you more as development continues.

    Thanks,

    Lewis - A2A Simulations
