Tucked into the north-central Sacramento Valley of California, Yuba County Airport (KMYV) sits just east of the Feather River, serving the Yuba City and Marysville region with a history that stretches back to World War II. Originally constructed as Marysville Army Airfield, the facility transitioned into civilian hands after the war and went on to support scheduled airline operations until the late 1970s. Today it functions as a general aviation and light industrial hub, with a 6,000-foot main runway capable of accommodating jet traffic. Developer Nandengo12 has released a detailed freeware scenery upgrade for KMYV on Flightsim.to, representing the second of two sceneries covering the Yuba City and Marysville area. The package is compatible with both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and was built using Microsoft's SDK alongside a combination of custom and library objects.

Custom objects include a recreation of the old terminal building, the Reach Air Ambulance facility, Honeycutt Aviation's FBO, structures representing California Aero Engines, and several prominent hangars, along with appropriate signage throughout the field. A Beale AFB Aero Club clubhouse has also been placed via a library object, acknowledging the airport's long-standing military connections to the region. Beyond the custom structures, the package adds grass spots, fencing, lighting, utilities, landscaping, a weather station, navaids, windsocks, static aircraft, and ramp clutter to fill out the environment. Light industrial clutter has been placed along the west side of the field to reflect the real airport's surrounding development. A helicopter start spot has been added at the Reach facility to support rotary-wing operations.

On the technical side, the developer has corrected several issues with the default representation. Runways have been replaced to properly position VASI locations and configuration, and all taxiway signs have been updated to reflect current naming conventions, as the default data was outdated. Photogrammetry errors visible from the runway — including oversized tree blobs and irregular terrain artifacts — have been addressed. Some incomplete taxiway guidelines have also been corrected. Night lighting has been included across the airport where photographic reference was available. During MSFS 2024 testing, vegetation and runway material issues were identified and resolved in a separate compile, with incorrect vegetation also corrected in that version.

Installation requires a number of dependencies. The scenery draws on several MSFS marketplace airports — KCGX, KNKX, EDLP, and NZMF — for certain house, water pipe, navaid, and utility objects, while KFFA is required for the grass texture at the old terminal. The Bullfrogsim Control Tower library is needed for the air traffic control tower. The free UK2000 Common Library covers ramp objects and light splash effects, and Nandengo12's own California GA library is also required, with at least the August 8 update needed for the fuel station objects. The package installs in the standard way by placing the extracted folder into the MSFS Community folder.

The KMYV scenery is available to 👉 download for free at Flightsim.to. If you enjoy the scenery and find it enhances your flying in the Sacramento Valley, consider supporting Nandengo12 with a donation through the add-on page.
