A new custom scenery add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 places you at the heart of a fictional Arctic rescue compound deep in the Alaskan wilderness, offering a richly detailed setting for search-and-rescue roleplay, virtual military operations, and bush flying alike. Alaska's Denali region is among the most unforgiving environments on Earth — a landscape of glaciers, jagged peaks, and vast stretches of wilderness that regularly demands the attention of real-world search-and-rescue crews.

It is a fitting backdrop for the ➡️ NAAF Arctic Rescue Base (NARB), a custom scenery creation by developer TurboLlama, released on Flightsim.to as a free download for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The base is dedicated to the Nova Airlines Air Force (NAAF), a virtual military pilot group that uses the simulator for coordinated group operations. While the scenery has clear roots in that community, its design is broad enough to appeal to any MSFS 2024 pilot with an interest in bush flying, helicopter operations, or immersive mission-based scenarios.

Rather than a simple collection of placed objects, the base is organised into distinct functional zones that reflect how a real remote rescue facility might be laid out. There is a SAR command and communications area, an aircraft maintenance hangar, crew housing, and expedition-style operations tents — including a dedicated SAR equipment tent. Multiple helicopter landing pads are positioned to support large-scale group operations, and there is ample space for utility aircraft and rescue vehicles throughout the compound. A mobile command vehicle adds to the operational character of the base, while Arctic ground support equipment reinforces the remote, high-latitude setting. One of the more distinctive features is a rope-rescue training tower complete with climbing and hoist-training areas.
The lakeside location provides waterfront access for floatplane or amphibious operations, and the surrounding terrain takes full advantage of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024's dramatic Alaskan mountain scenery.

For full functionality, TurboLlama recommends installing the Animated Humans library and the Ethnicfs Military Library alongside the scenery, both of which are available separately on Flightsim.to. The NAAF Arctic Rescue Base is available as freeware for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. If you find it adds value to your flying consider leaving a donation for TurboLlama through the Flightsim.to page. Supporting independent scenery developers helps keep projects like this coming.
