San Diego International Airport holds a well-earned reputation among virtual and real-world pilots alike. Officially designated KSAN and historically known as Lindbergh Field, the airport sits just three miles northwest of Downtown San Diego, California, squeezed between the city's urban core, the waters of San Diego Bay, and the hills of Bankers Hill. Its approach is genuinely challenging: You must navigate a tight descent corridor over dense urban terrain, manage variable wind conditions during final, and execute a precise landing on a relatively short usable runway surface with the San Diego skyline looming close by.
Glideslope Pro has now released a dedicated, native version of KSAN built specifically 🔗 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, bringing the scenery fully in line with the capabilities of the updated simulator platform. This is not a straightforward port of the earlier MSFS 2020 release — it represents a meaningful upgrade, rebuilt using the MSFS 2024 SDK and taking advantage of the improvements that platform offers in terms of ground textures, level-of-detail handling, and overall performance optimisation.

The centrepiece of this release is the newly built Terminal 1, which has been fully modelled with detailed interiors. This reflects a real-world development at San Diego International Airport, where a major terminal construction project has been reshaping the airport's layout. The surrounding terminal and apron areas have received the same attention to detail, with fully modelled adjacent buildings rounding out the environment.
Animated jetways connect to gates across the terminal, airline codes have been assigned to parking positions to guide accurate pushback placement, and custom animated runway guard lights add to the realism of surface movements. Custom ground markings are included throughout the airfield, contributing to the overall fidelity of the taxiway and apron environment.

As a bonus, the package includes a lite version of KNZY North Island Naval Air Station (Halsey Field), located across the bay on Coronado Island. While not the primary focus of the release, its inclusion adds context to the broader San Diego flying environment and gives you an additional point of interest during approaches and departures.

It is worth noting that if you have the MSFS 2020 version of this scenery installed, Glideslope Pro recommends disabling it in My Library or removing it from your Community folder before installing this native 2024 version. Running both simultaneously can cause scenery conflicts, so a clean transition is advisable before loading into the simulator. 🔗 KSAN — San Diego International Airport for MSFS 2024 by Glideslope Pro is available now on the Flightsim.to Store.
