The McDonnell Douglas DC-9 has been completely redesigned, making full use of the latest technologies available in Microsoft Flight Simulator. This detailed simulation includes two variants of the aircraft: the DC-9-10 and the DC-9-30, each available in both passenger and freighter configurations.
The visual model features high-definition, physically based rendering (PBR) textures, native icing effects, and decal support for MSFS 2020 and 2024. The wings are dynamically animated and flex in flight, while all major external components—such as the main door, service door, cargo door, forward and rear stairs, and cockpit windows—have been accurately modeled and animated.
Flight control surfaces behave according to the real aircraft’s systems, including ailerons and elevators actuated by the aerodynamic movement of control tabs. The horizontal stabilizer moves based on real-world data and system logic. The landing lights feature three positions: retracted, extended and off, and extended and on.
Additional animated elements include 3D-modeled thrust reversers, windshield wipers with four operational modes (park, off, slow, fast), fan blades, PITOT tubes, static probes, and ports. Ground support equipment such as an air start unit is also included to support realistic ground operations.
Every detail of the aircraft has been recreated with precision to reflect its real-world counterpart as closely as possible.
