YCDR - Caloundra Airport Queensland - Image 1

    Description

This scenery has been replaced by an enhanced version available from shuntscenery.com

This is our first scenery which is YCDR (Caloundra) located in eastern Queensland Australia.

Caloundra Aerodrome is owned and operated by council. The site was reserved as an aircraft landing ground in 1931. Activities at the aerodrome include general aviation-related businesses, light fixed wing aircraft and helicopters.

The site is approximately 145 hectares and includes two sealed runways. These are runway 05/23 and runway 12/30, which are both 795m long and 18m wide. The aerodrome is surrounded by urban development in the east, north and west. Recent approvals for Caloundra South will add urban development to the south. Approximately 40,000 take offs and landings happen at the aerodrome each year. Most of Caloundra’s air traffic is flight training, mainly helicopter flight training.

    All feedback welcome and appreciated!

    v1.3 - 15-02-2021 Feature Update:
    - Added custom modelled AMS and GoFly hangars.
    - Added custom modelled public facilities.
    - topographical fixes.
    - runways remodelled to be more realistic.

Well done fellas! You've done a great job recreating this aerodrome in the new sim, especially all the custom buildings and assets unique to Australian aviation - The attention to detail and accuracy really makes the scenery shine. A must download for anyone looking to explore this beautiful region!

Long time FSX user but new to MSFS. Delighted to find your good work with my local airport Caloundra but find Runway 30 like landing on the side of a hill. Caloundra is relatively flat. Is there any way you can flatten it out?

Excellent work and attention to detail.

(There is a large bump halfway down runway 12, but I won't tell anybody.)

Thank you for update v1.3 however one of your windsocks still seems to dispute the wind direction. No biggie. Just thought I'd share for future fix. https://pasteboard.co/JOpLNtw.jpg

No problems :) Yep we cannot get rid of it with everything we have tried. Still a WIP

    Go to Scenery Editor
    Add ExclusionRectangle from Objects
Shrink it down around your unwanted windsock (the rectangle starts off huge)
In the properties of the ExclusionRectangle select checkbox ExcludeWindsockObjects

Looks great. Just one problem, all the parked aircraft pop up and down. Like they have collapsed on their gear then back up again.

This happens at a lot of my airports, so I don't think it's something you can remedy on your own.

Hi, love ya work but I think your windsocks have the 180 degree problem.
    It can be fixed in DevMode->Scenery Editor->Select Windsock->View Gizo->Change Heading from 179 to 0.
Its a bug in the dev kit.

I live in Caloundra so any upgrades to the airport are welcomed :D

The trees down the left side of RWY23 are all paperbark trees for reference and are a lot smaller in height than what the sim represents :D

If you plan on doing anything extra custom wise, let me know I may be able to go and take some photos if you're not a local

    Cheers for doing this!!

Great to see more Aussie content and a really good representation of YCDR. I think that some of the white triangular markers may be a bit big as they seem to be quite big in relation to a DA40 size.

Great job! Thanks heaps. Looking forward to landing here. I hope someone can also take a look at YBSU Sunshine Coast and add the new 2450m runway 18/36 that opened last year.
