Airport Gumrak - Volgograd (URWW). Volgograd International Airport (IATA: VOG, ICAO: URWW) (Russian: Гумра́к — международный аэропорт федерального значения)  is an international airport of federal significance in the city of Volgograd. It is located in the north-west of the Dzerzhinsky district (Airport village), in the Gumrak microdistrict, 15 kilometers from the city center. Official name of the airport: Volgograd (Gumrak).

The airport was established in 1952 on the basis of the former Gumrak military airfield, which existed since the late 20s of the XX century. The Stalingrad Military Aviation School of Pilots was based at the airfield before the Battle of Stalingrad and the transfer of the school to the Kostanay region of the Kazakh SSR. During the days of the Battle of Stalingrad, it was used by German troops. In May 1946, the school was relocated to the West Siberian Military District, in the city of Ob, Novosibirsk region.

The airport accepts AN-124, IL-76, Tu-154, Tu-204, Airbus A330, Boeing 767 and all lighter aircraft, as well as helicopters of all types. Gumrak airfield meets the certified requirements of the standards of readiness for operation of civil airfields according to the ICAO category III. The runway classification number is 1 (PCN) 44/F/D/X/T.

The airport complex includes the domestic airlines building and the international airlines building. On the ground floor of the domestic airlines building there is a waiting room, ticket offices, a check-in hall, an arrival hall, as well as a high-comfort departure hall. On the second floor there is an inspection area, a waiting room and a cafe. In the last few years, the terminal complex has been partially reconstructed: the upper part of the facade, the pavilion of domestic airlines have been replaced, a new arrival hall and baggage claim hall have been added, the territory adjacent to the terminal has been landscaped. On the territory of the airport there is a hotel with 70 seats for transit passengers. The reconstruction of the airport complex was completed for the FIFA World Cup. A runway with a length of 3280 m has been built on the territory of the airfield.
