Happy Canada Day!
Introducing my newest helicopter project, the Guimbal Cabri G2!
It has been a long few months of seemingly endless work, but I am happy to release the first beta edition!
As a huge fan of BC Helicopters, I have taken most inspiration from their fleet of Cabris.
While this project was built from scratch by myself, I would like to thank the others who have had a hand in helping out also, without their help and support this heli would not be where it is now!-
Special Thanks to:
- Dano(TNBNDR) - Flight model/performance editing
- Bradnell - Continuous and rigorous playtesting, advice/support
- Mykrode(GotFriends) - Livery art, engine model and texturing
- 270Inc(GotFriends) - advice and help with sound editor
- Jonx (GotFriends) - tips and assistance when needed.
Rotornutt - Amazing BC Helicopters Scenery/Heliport pack! Download here - https://flightsim.to/file/36055/bc-helicopters-canada
Also thanks to all the beta testers on my Discord channel for your feedback and support!
And of course, thank you for trying my heli!
Release Notes Beta v3.0;
-- Checked for SU-10 compatibility, all is good.
-- added new seat set, this has its own texture set, so any custom liveries will need this file edited if necesary, if not it will use the default set.
-- Added textures for windows, windows have a slight dark tint now. There are 2 Albedo tex, 1 for interior glass, and 1 for the exterior, also are 2 Comp textures, but recomend just leaving this as is.(If you need help with texture settings, just come msg me on Discord). (If you want the window to be solid color, such as the airbus drones, just edit the exterior glass, this way it will be solid from ext view, but see-thru on the interior. you can also adjust the comp file for the exterior in case you want a less gloss look. Check the new livery for reference)
-- Added new livery as an example for painting a "drone" look.
-- fixed draw order of windows to help/stop flickering and other issues.
Release Notes Beta v2.0;
- Fixed overhead lights (LED and Map lights)
- Added missing code and buttons to PFD (Button label tex not yet made, hover each one for a tool tip)
- Re worked collective anims(All anims work as intended, with the exception of the leather boot, this was the sacrifice to fix the other anims for now.)
- Increased gear reduction to stop main rotor a bit sooner.
- new starter smoke fx on sprayer model.
- Added a seperate model variant - Crop Sprayer mod. (Instructions included)
- Fixed Exterior windshield flicker.
- Fixed fuel selector to not always be in the on position.
- Fixed a missing texture on rotor assembly.
- fixed smoothing on rotor blades.
- Added new texture option.
- Added/edited a couple sounds.
Release Notes Beta v1.0;
As this is a WIP, expect there to be some things unfinished and others needing fixes.
Features - Trim String(Click black circle on window to show/hide it), Removeable doors(use key remote in console), add/remove bearpaws(switch to the right of carb heat switch), Floats - both inflated and packaged models, custom soundpack, high quality textures, GTN 750(Please download latest version from their site https://pms50.com/msfs/ ), 7 livery options. The rest is up to you to explore and enjoy!
Before starting a flight, be sure to set the payload menu Empty CG Position to 4.5%mac or as close to 5%mac as it lets you, without exceeding 5% mac.
For starting the heli, refer to the in-game checklist, it has all you need to get started up!
Once the heli is at your location and started up, then and ONLY then Start the AirlandFS App and load the desired afs profile.(Failure to follow these directions will result in unexpected behaviours and innoperability of the heli.)
The flight model has been tested and tweaked to work at a variety of altitudes, take some time to get a feel for proper weight loads and takeoff power, as it will have very different feel/behaviour depending on the altitude.(There is no "one size fits all" with the afs profiles, we tried to balance it the best we could to satisfy most. Feel free to make your own if you want to. But we will be improving on these over time.)
If you leave airland app running while the helicopter is shut off, there is a chance it may launch the heli into the sky after a certain time. (This happens with all airland helis) So just close the app when not in use to prevent unwanted behaviours.
The Sea Level VNE for this is 130 knots, keep in mind this number decreases the higher the altitude(also changes slightly depending on weather). If you are flying along and the heli all of a sudden starts to act strange(flip to the side or up or down, or feel like it hit an invisible wall, etc..) you are exceeding the current VNE. To correct the issue, reduce power and forward speed.
If you want to use the floats, you first need to add 44lbs to the payload menu, this will display the "Bagged" floats(non-deployed model), then when you want to inflate, use the slide button on collective lever(Red button).
