Hi folks - through much trial and error I have completed a full set of scripts and templates for the Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo to control the PMDG 737 using Axis and Ohs. If you don't have a Honeycomb Alpha or Bravo, you should still be able to use the Axis and Ohs scripts, simply assign them to keys on your own controller as you wish.

The intentions for these bindings are to provide easy access to switches that are frequently used during flight, particularly in high workload times such as shortly after takeoff and shortly after landing when you don't want to take your eyes off the sky. Most startup and shutdown functions will still need to be performed through the virtual cockpit.

Installation Instructions:

1. Open Axis and Ohs without having an aircraft loaded into the sim.

2. Select "Scripting -> Import Scripts" on Axis and Ohs toolbar. Select the "PMDG737_AAO_SCRIPTS.xml" file. Check the box to select all scripts and import.

3. Select "Templates -> Import Template" on the Axis and Ohs toolbar. Select the "PMDG737_HCALPHA+BRAVO.tmpl" file.

4. Load the PMDG737 into the sim.

5. Select "Templates -> Apply a template to this aircraft" on the Axis and Ohs toolbar. Choose the template that you just imported.

The full bindings are listed below and are available in the screenshots at the top:

The autopilot knobs all work as expected. By default, the CRS setting on the left hand Bravo knob will change both Course 1 and Course 2 knobs in the aircraft. If you do not want this functionality then remove the two "PMDG_737-COURSE_SYNC" script assignments after applying the template by selecting each box, then clicking the red minus sign at the bottom right of the window.

All other axes including speedbrake, throttles, flaps, as well as landing gear and trim switches can be set in MSFS settings without issues.

Landing gear trick in MSFS keybinds: Set "Gear Down" to the upper position on the Bravo quadrant and change the activation mode to "On Release". Do the opposite for "Gear Up", also "On Release". This will fix any gear keybinding issues and allow you to manually move the gear level to the "Off" position with your mouse while flying.

Hi, you will need to reassign the Alpha scripts to your TCA stick if you want any of the functionality of those buttons. The Bravo assignments should work correctly out of the box.

I have a problem When I import the template (...Bravo.tmpl) then it pops up a window on "Change Button Assignment". I can neither save nor cancel here. I don't even get to the point "Apply a template to this aircraft". What am I doing wrong?

Hi, unfortunately I am not an expert on Axis and Ohs errors - I would recommend contacting Lorby (the creator) on one of the many forums he frequents. From what I have seen he provides excellent support help.

Do I need any tool to load /import this script? I don't understand how to do it with MSFS alone?

The external program Axis and Ohs is required to make these work. The base abilities of the sim are not capable of mapping these these events from PMDG.

Hi, yes I have the thrust reversers mapped in MSFS settings. I just have the "Throttle 1 Decrease" and "Throttle 2 Decrease" mapped to the Bravo buttons 10 and 11. Do note that because the Bravo throttle reverser is only a switch and not an axis like the real aircraft this will only allow you to do max reverse - idle reverse is not possible.

Great job Andew! Does it matter what I have already assigned and then just open Axis and Ohs with the downloaded script and templates for it to work, or do I need a special templated loaded in MSFS Control Options for the Honeycomb hardware?

Hi - anything you already have assigned in MSFS will create a conflict yes, or at best a dual keybind. I have a mostly blank profile in MSFS which only has the throttles, thrust reversers, flap lever, speedbrake lever, and gear lever assigned.

Hello, the Bravo assignments will work correctly out of the box - You'll have to manually remove the binding for the Alpha yoke and assign them to your own yoke manually if you wish.

You have to disconnect the AAO software with clicking the green lamp next to the Extras at the menu bar. Then you can import it and reconnect again.

Good catch @Oudoum, I probably should have tested that before I wrote the instructions. I've updated the instructions to reflect that the scripts need to be imported before loading into the airplane in the sim.

Turns out PMDG has been using the same event IDs all the way back to the NGX in FSX. Here's a list I found - you can use these to customize if you wish. Once you have the event ID it's just guess and check with entering different parameters to find what you want it to do.

Is the mode knob on top left working too? I mean, can I change heading, vertical speed etc. with the right kob after selecting the correct mode? Or do I have to change those values via mouse?

Yes all of the autopilot knobs work properly. By default the CRS setting on the Bravo will change both Course 1 and Course 2 in the aircraft. I just didn't have a good way of labeling that on the pictures so I left it alone.

Hello, I would imagine that yes it is possible. However, I don't have either of those pieces of hardware so unfortunately I can't develop them for you. You can try to learn from the scripts I've provided and see if you can figure them out yourself!

Axis and Ohs is an external program that handles complex keybinding and scripting for things the base simulator cannot do. You have to purchase it to be able to use these.

As far as I know that function is not mappable with this airplane in MSFS - that's why I have included a custom script for it as part of this package.

Request to add wing lights bindings

What switch do you want to add the wing light to? All you need to do is add the following text (without quotations) to the end of the script that you want to add the light to.

For example, if you wanted to add it to the landing light switch, then add the following:

LAND_LIGHTS_ON: Add "1 (>K:#69757)"

LAND_LIGHTS_OFF: Add "0 (>K:#69757)"

After you add each one, click update in the bottom right corner of the script editor to save the new script.

Load the aircraft into the sim and open Axis and Ohs.

Once the airplane name is showing in Axis and Ohs, go to the upper toolbar and select "Scripting -> Import Scripts" and select the "PMDG737_AAO_SCRIPTS.xml" file. Check the box to select all scripts and import.

Then, go to "Templates -> Import Template" and select the PMDG737_HCALPHA+BRAVO.tmpl file.

Lastly, go to "Templates -> Apply a template to this aircraft" and choose the template that you just imported.

Version 1.3 May 17, 2022

- Changed the behavior of the Avionics Bus 1 and Bus 2 switches on the Alpha
- The Bus 1 switch now controls both IRS 1 and IRS 2 switches
- The Bus 2 switch now controls the transponder switch between TA/RA and Alt Off modes
All checklist items from the beginning of taxi to cruise can now be completed using hardware controls making it so that the camera does not have to be repositioned while in critical phases of flight where attention needs to be paid outside the aircraft.

This setup is getting very close to where I am happy with it - the only switch right now I am not sold on is the probe heat switch assignment on the Bravo as it being the only switch on that row that is "on" during cruise bothers me but I haven't found something else to put in its place yet. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

- Added HUD raise/lower script and keybind. This is bound to the small white flap lever on the right hand side of the Bravo quadrant.
- Improved Course Sync script keybind - it should be more reliable now.
- Added Autothrottle Disconnect as a long press on the small red TO/GA button on the Throttle 1 arm. Current bind is now:
Short press - Set TO/GA thrust.
Long press - Autothrottle disconnect.
Version 1.1 May 13, 2022

- Added course 1 and course 2 syncronization script. This is active by default and triggers one second after turning the autopilot knobs in course mode. If you do not want this active, remove the two "Course Sync" script assignments after applying the template.
- Added HUD raise and lower scripts. This is not assigned to a switch by default but you can assign it to a switch if you would like.
