Peterborough Aiport CYPQ and Lift Lock - Image 1

    Description

Note.  The lift locks will overlap with WU11.  In addition, since this update there are unremoveable tree/vegetation elements that are growing out of scenery I developed for this airport.  Therefore, unfortunately I will not be releasing the new update without the locks until this problem can be addressed.

There are some places that surprise even me, who has travelled from one Canadian Coast to the other; and I found it doing this airport. The Peterborough Lift Lock, is part of the Trent Severnal Waterway system. The lock was, until recently, the highest lift lock in the world, which hydrolically lifts the boats up 85ft to join the rest of the canal.  It was a real engineering feet when it was built back in 1896. Fly north of the airport to the city of Peterborough and you can't miss it.
What's going on at Peterborough Airport?  Well, Seneca College, Peterborough Campus is a wonderful school of aviation.
If you want a tour here is the link. https://virtualtours.senecacollege.ca/seneca/peterborough-campus
It is a beautiful building and I wish I could have added more detail, however the file was getting very large. Flying Colours has three large hangars with two more under construction.  If you need your corporate or private jet customized, give them a call.  At the other end of the airport is Loomex who are busy these days managing Peterborough and several others including Kawartha Lakes. They run regular fire safety exercises to keep everyone current. A good company indeed.
Peterborough is a super place to fuel up and continue on to Kingston or Kawartha Lakes and Simcoe.
It is by far my largest project, so in lieu of buying me a coffee, I hope you wil consider helping out these two fantastic Canadian flying groups that help others in need.

HopeAir -- helps those who need medical operations and cannot afford to get there. They could reallly use a few dollars to keep flying.

Recently the lower mainland of British Columbia experienced horrendous floods and landslides.  A couragouse group of private pilots pooled their resources to get emergency supplies in and people and animals out. Much was lost but much was saved due to their immediate and daring rescues.  They continue to this day helping, but fuel costs a great deal these days. If you can buy them a few gallons it would be great.  Thanks

Just an FYI for CYPQ Peterborough Ontario Canada, that the mandatory frequency is changing from 123.000 to 122.025, on May 14, 2016.

Great scenery but there is some issues, Runway markings are incorrect, PAPI lights RWY27 are obscured by a forest and there is also way too many trees around the airport, Taxiway H leading off of RWY 09/27 is not correctly placed, Taxiway E leading into the apron has turned to grass instead of being paved like it is irl and its missing the flashing AS lights at the end of each runway, and the turnaround point at the end of RWY09 is missing.

Thanks for this. Something is weird with the forest. I was unable to remove it either by the exclusion rectangle or by the polygon method. It is a different colour and is permanent. It obscures the parking area, too. I shall attempt to correct the issues you outlined.
    Thanks

It's been a while since that airport was created and it looks like one or two textures are no longer compatible with the current version. I shall attempt to update. I say attempt because some of the buildings and textures may no longer exist in my library.

Alright cool, also I have a suggestion for an Airport, it would really be cool if Mont-Tremblant CYFJ was done for FS2020/2024, very beautiful area

Like your inclusion of the Seneca College facilities. Does anyone at Seneca know you have done this? I once suggested to College's Marketting department that they offer a prise to Seneca's 3D Animation students for creating an FS2004 / FSX version of the old Buttonville Campus. Sadly, the then Director of Marketing thought it was a dumb idea to advertize Seneca's aviation program to aviation enthusiasts and to showcase the 3D animation skills of their students. :-)

That was good thinking but I think they use different programs. I went to the airport but they wouldn't let me enter and take pictures. Too bad I would have liked to have more interesting shots through the windows

You have trees growing out of the east most hangers. :) You cannot select those tarmac spots without hanging from a tree.

    @ MazerMart,

Don't forget to update the version number in the manifest.json file.

Here it shows version number 1.1, but shows 0.1.0 in the manifest.

So that is in the "package_version" and I should do that before I download it. so come up with the version number first. Ok something I obviously never did. thanks

Excited about this airport since I just got CYQA which is made for SU9. Will this be SU9 compatible as well ? :)

Thanks.. I am struggling a bit because most of the airports done including Peterborough were done on a different computer (old one) that no longer has enough room for FS. So for example the lift lock will no longer be animated until I update all the textures and reload it into the game. I will download an update but the there will be no animation for now.

Not sure why they can't make the updates backward compatible.

    Cheers

Port Hardy is one of the most important airports on Vancouver Island and is home to Wilderness Seaplane which continues to serve the region with a fleet of Gruman Goose'.  It has an ILS with glideslope on Rwy 11 -  dial in 109.5 for the localizer and glideslope.  It has a new terminal building in which the roof resembles the cross section of a wing.   I spent some wonderful days up in that area at Telegraph Cove - 40 miles south, but have been a fan of this wild and beautiful part of Canada for years. See the artwork of Emily Carr for instance. I wanted to incorportate some of the artwork of the coastal indigineous peoples -Kwakiutl First Nations -so I included them as highlighted in the terminal building.  (dugout canoe and exterior facade)
