Suggestion, bugs and ideas for the future.

  • Version 1.2.1 September 24, 2021

Replaced sound files with default package with smoother gradient, continual down spooling when shutting off engine mid flight.

  • Version 1.2.0 September 19, 2021

    Sept 2021 Update
    - Adjusted rear fuselage to be more boxy & repainted liveries match
    - Added exhaust heat effects
    - Fixed rear landing skid mesh geometry normals
    - Fixed bugged cylinder that appeared as chrome
    - Improved registration decal (should flicker less at a distance)

  • Version 1.1.1 August 29, 2021

Fuel bug hotfix for version 1.1 while xfer from aux pumps are being investigated. Sorry this missed the previous 1.1 patch!

  • Version 1.1 August 29, 2021

    - Added much requested Exterior Pilot model
    - Animated engine cylinders, now spin like the real aircraft
    - Flight model tweaks to make ground handling significantly more stable on taxi, takeoff and landing
(you wont spin out nearly as much but still a tad as you have minimal rudder control when grounded)
    - Fixed issue with rudder switching on you mid flight (this is an MSFS flight model related issue. Fixed by adding a bit of dihedral. Huge thanks to )
    - Reduced texture flicker on REG but not eliminated (still hunting for a fix)

  • Launched August 26, 2021

Initial release of this file just launched. Welcome aboard!

Bien entendu ce genre d’avion atterrît dans un champ d’aviation et non sur une piste autre temps......

Thank you very much for your work and for a fun flyable model. I know that there are very many visual and flight details here that just do not coincide with the original aircraft, so I cannot rate you any higher. Whoever gets this just has to do so for the fun of flying a nice model and ignore any reality. Since MSFS is s sim, then it is certainly possible to do this if you wish. I agree with other comments that state that other WWI aircraft might have been better choices at this stage of development in MSFS.

DOGFIGHTS: The Red Baron 80 Kills explained.

The Red Baron - Buried Four Times!

By the way, you have designed the rear skid to be fixed. That would be life-threatening when landing 😊

This was the real mechanism in the Fokker Dr. I:

[German language - pls use the YT translator function]

Unfortunately, you have chosen the wrong aircraft for your development. The Fokker Dr.I is not an easy aircraft to fly and can be very special during take-off, landing and strong crosswinds. Without an ignition breaker, landing is almost impossible due to the high lift of the aircraft. These constant engine misfires, triggered by the ignition interrupter, can be seen in many YT movies of replicas and are absolutely characteristic of this aircraft. I have not found a keybind for an ignition breaker in the MSFS2020, so I assume that the possibility does not exist in the MSFS2020 at all.

As a fan of these aircraft, I have looked very closely at your development and have been flying the Dr.I in Rise of Flight for 12 years now, so I know this aircraft and its behaviour in the air (and dogfight) very well.

My conclusion to your development:

It is really a pity that you have chosen the Dr.I because this aircraft only causes you unnecessary problems in the flight model and brings you to your limits (because probably some of the MSFS2020 functions that you need for this aircraft do not yet exist, e.g. ignition breakers). If you had chosen an Albatros D.III with Daimler Benz in-line engine, you would not be so far away from a good and suitable flight model and would only have to adjust a few screws to achieve a very good implementation of the Albatros. The in-line engine and the very good and easy-to-handle flight characteristics of the Albatros would have made your work much easier. This is a real pity and if it is about "famous" aircraft then the Fokker D.VII (F) would also have been a good choice. That was the real Ace Maker and not the Dr.I. The Fokker Dr.I required that the pilot was already an ace and only then could the pilot exploit the full potential of this aircraft. The D.VII (F) was so superior in its performance and flight characteristics and so easy to handle that this aircraft was able to make an ace out of a medium pilot but not the Dr.I which at the end of the First World War was only flown by pilots who were able to exploit the full potential of the aircraft through their talent and above all were able to conceal the weaknesses of the triplane. That was the real challenge with this aircraft.

I really enjoyed this. What a fun little plane.

I am really bothered by the looks. Your fuselage is quite round, like an Albatross. I have not downloaded yet because I like realistic models, and the looks of yours leads me to believe that the performance must be equally .... different ... than the original. But I will keep watching and reading. Thanks for your efforts and work.

Merci super boulot 🤩👍👍

Good flyer and has a throttle which the original didn't have,it was either idle or full bore and consequently very tricky on landing..................................

Very fun to fly around.

Great Job..takes me back to my WW1 simming on Red Baron 2...Rise of Flight...and Wings over flanders fields

incredible rendition of the Red Baron. It was just one other time where Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen and the Chad Germans showed everyone else how to do it. General Patton was right--we fought the wrong enemy in WW2.

Absolutely brilliant :¬)

Great fun to fly, a little scary as it's so light, and after a few practice landings, easy to land as well :¬)

I would have posted my review earlier, but I lost my C drive and had to reinstall everything :¬(
