This is repaint for OZx Team's 'Grumman Goose G21A Redux II' for MSFS. The livery is a depiction of Canada's classic Royal Canadian Air Force Costal Air Command SAR unit. I've created this repaint in 8k.
It's semi-fictional in that, the colors are true, but the registration is fictional. I dedicate this livery to my late dad, Capt. Allan James Smith of 408 'Goose' Squadron, Rockcliffe, Ontario. That's his birthdate on the tail.
Thanks to The OZx Team for a great model, the Goose!
Adding the livery, (with the base package already installed)
- Unzip, drop into your '../Community ' folder
Enjoy!

Unfortunately Sim Update 5 causes my RCAF repaint to look washed out. The detail in the metal is a mess, and the shine is overexposed. Like everyone, I'm anticipating the fix from Asobo to address the degradation of the sim and hopefully then things will appear as they did before the World update.

Better after the 2nd Hotfix, still a little pale in comparison to the release look of the livery.

Took my very first flight in the Goose and took off from Rockcliffe and flew over Ottawa. Even had a successful water landing and takeoff. Thank you for making this great livery in honour of your Dad.

Thanks everyone for expressing your concerns. I've updated the file to now be a ' drag and drop ' install right into your community folders. Thanks for the comments, safe landings!

Could you please explain how Jan Kees Blom has numerous repaints for this aircraft in drag and drop format?

This is MSFS, not FSX. This is also a world where we must be paranoid of malware and ransomware, and thus avoid running EXE files from unknown sources. Please, you have a GREAT livery, please distribute it the safe and correct way, via drag-and-drop. I see folks have already offered to help you.
And you don't seem to realize that the fellow who provided over a dozen drag-and-drop liveries for that very plane, on this site, basically told us the same thing. His had to be hand applied, exactly like yours. Then he learned how to make his beautiful liveries drag-and-drop and we were all thankful.
Many, many thanks for the drag-and-drop! Love your livery!

You are not reading or comprehending what has already been explained.
"The OZx Grumman Goose is the first third party aircraft to be brought into MSFS as a modified import from FSX therefore, the file structure follows FSX."
You have to understand, I did not decide the format. I followed their format so I could make a new texture folder for the OZx model. That's all. If you're unsure about running the Layout.json compiler, you would have type it all by hand. I prefer the automated method to avoid mistakes. I added the compiler because I thought it would help you like it helped me, and thousands of others, but you don't have to use it.

I have updated Capt.AJ to Version 1.1 This update fixes the light covers on the wing's leading edges, they are now transparent. As well a couple of small paint touchups. Thanks for all the kind comments everyone, if you have any problems let me know.

DeltaSierra2020 this is a spectactular rendition of the Goose. I love it, but I do agree, the files should be a direct extraction to the Community folder, not the old process where you have to find the specific aircraft folder and the textures, plus update the config files. It's just not done anymore. I'm sure there is someone here that can show you how to do this.

The OZx Grumman Goose is the first third party aircraft to be brought into MSFS as a modified import from FSX therefore, the file structure follows FSX format. At that time, there was no SDK to speak of so, it is quite remarkable they figured out how to make it work.

I love this skin, it is beautifully done. You're correct about it being fictional. The last RCAF Goose was struck off charge in 1956, and that Canadian flag didn't exist until the 1960s. The fuselage flash existed on some planes by 1956 but not the Goose. But if the Goose had been kept in service into the late 1960s, this is a very credible representation of what it would have looked like, and I'll enjoy flying it. Thanks for the great work.

Can you (or someone else) please simply make a "drag and drop" version? Not everyone got to terms with the more complex approach.
I would prefer that myself too. It's a luxury to be able to drag and drop nowdays, but with previous versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator, this is how we used to do it ( minus the .json file update) Let me know if you're having trouble and I'll be glad to help.

Thank you for the detailed installation instructions, What a beautiful job you have done on this repaint, I used to do liveries for Cliffs of Dover but nowadays it seems a lot more daunting. I will gladly take her out of CYRO and bring her back safely.👏, for all the good Dads , see you in the blue.💕
