AIR - TRANSPORT EUROPE, spol. s r.o. (abbreviation ATE) is a Slovak air carrier specializing in the operation of air ambulance services. The company was founded on April 5, 1991 in Poprad and is the sole operator of the Helicopter Rescue Health Service in Slovakia (VZZS). In addition to rescue activities, it is engaged in irregular air transport and special aerial work. The air ambulance service is provided through a network of 7 bases, initially equipped with twin-engine Agusta A109K2 helicopters and, since 2016, also with Bell 429 GlobalRanger helicopters. After its establishment, the company began operating the Air Rescue Medical Service (renamed Helicopter Rescue Medical Service in 2008), first in Poprad and gradually took over other centers from 2001, the last one in Trenčín in 2009. Since January 1, 2017, ATE has been providing air rescue services in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and since January 1, 2021, also in Ostrava, Czech Republic, with EC 135T2+, EC 135P2+ helicopters.
