I don't know if this will help with the Waco, but on the PMDG Paint Hanger forum section/TOPIC: "MSFS Pink Textures on the DC6", there is an in-depth technical overview of a possible solution(s). A bit down the page is a comment full of details from one of the best painters around.

I hope this helps in some way if possible, you are also one of the best.

I think I found a solution!

open the texture.cfg folder (to be found in the texture.JK_OBSERVER folder) and replace the contents of that file with this:

[fltsim]

fallback.1=..\..\Carenado_WYMF5\texture.02

fallback.2=..\..\Carenado_WYMF5\texture.base

save the file and (re)start the sim and check to see if it works. Could you try it and confirm if it works for you as well?
