Ouarzazate International Airport serves the capital of the Ouarzazate province in Drâa-Tafilalet, located in the south central region of Morocco.

With a population of over 70,000 people, Ouarzazate is notable for its many kasbahs (of which the airport itself is modeled in their architectural stylings), as a starting point for excursions into the Sahara and is also the home of one of the world’s largest film studios. 

Atlas Corporation studios, located just 3 miles west of the city, has provided the backdrop to many notable films and TV series, including The Mummy, Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, Game of Thrones & Prison Break. Many of the sets remain in place and can be visited, making the studio a popular tourist destination.

6 miles away is the world’s largest concentrated solar farm, built to be able to provide 582 MW of power. The plant stores solar energy in the form of heated molten salt, allowing for the production of electricity into the night.

Royal Air Maroc Express, Ryanair and Trannsavia provide regular service to Casablanca and Zagora in Morocco, as well as Barcelona, London, Marseille and Paris

These dependencies add to the atmosphere but the airport will still work fine without them.

(Highly recommended to have all the world and city updates as some of the models, most notably the palm trees, come from later world updates. Here again, if some are missing, the handcrafted models and apron will still serve as a completely functional airport.)
