    de Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou - Royal Canadian Air Force Air Transport Command - Image 1

    Description

    A repaint of the excellent Asobo/Microsoft/Orbx de Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou in the colours of the Royal Canadian Air Force's Air Transport Command, circa 1964. Known in service as the CC-108, the RCAF operated just nine DHC-4s, preferring the turboprop-powered DHC-5 Buffalo. This example, serial 5327 (c/n 206), was withdrawn from service in 1971 and exported to Africa where it flew with the Tanzanian Air Force before passing into private hands in 1979 and moving again, this time to the Shoreham in the UK. Six months later, it was ferried to Shannon, Ireland where it remained in storage until succumbing to the scrapman's axe in 1990.

    Hi Great_Qc, thanks for that, I'm aware Canadian Caribous wore various different colour schemes during their time in service. My repaint replicates the markings worn by serial number 5237 - you can find it, and others, here: www.silverhawkauthor.com//post/canadian-warplanes-5-de-havilland-cc-108-caribou

    Happy to release another version in the all-white colours you've shared - let me know.

    Cheers,

    Looks awesome, great Canadian content. Captured that short period for the RCAF with the 'new' Canadian flag before the forces were combined.

    Hey Geordie,

    I had to go through your profile / uploads to get to the updated download of this DHC-4 Caribou repaint. You might inform Flightsim.to that the link from the Last Updated page of theirs is broken and returns a 404 error.

    A repaint of the excellent Asobo/Microsoft/Orbx de Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou in the Vietnam War-era colours of the US Air Force. This particular example, 62-4160 (c/n 98), was originally delivered to the US Army in March 1963 as a CV-2B and assigned to the 135th Aviation Company at Fort Benning. In March 1966 'Clementine', as the aircraft had been named, was deployed to Qui Nhon in Vietnam to support the ongoing conflict. It was transferred a year later to the USAF under Operation Red Leaf and reassigned to the newly formed 458th Squadron at Cam Ranh Bay, where it received the 'KC' tailcode and the unit's distinctive red fin cap;

    de Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou - Greatland Air Cargo

    A repaint of the excellent Asobo/Microsoft/Orbx de Havilland Canada DHC-4 Caribou in the colours of Greatland Air Cargo. Allocated the registration N2225C, it was eventually ferried to Alaska in 1993 and used by Everts Air Fuel as a tanker and freighter before eventually passing into the hands of Anchorage-based Greatlands Air Cargo. Sadly, 25C was written off in August 2001 when it crashed on landing at Port Alsworth after encountering downdrafts and windshear.

This example, T.9-5 (c/n 262) was reportedly built for the Indian Air Force but not taken up, and was subsequently delivered to Spain in March 1968 as one of its original batch of 12 aircraft (it later acquired a further 18 former US examples). It was assigned to the 37th Wing (Air Transport) and shared between 371 and 372 squadrons until the type was withdrawn from service in 1991. It was subsequently placed into storage at Cuatro Vientos, Madrid.
