Yoshkar-Ola airport UWKJ (JOK) - airport of Yoshkar-Ola, the capital city The Republic Of Mari El. It has the status of an airport of Federal significance[2]. It is located seven kilometers North of the city center on the Vyatka highway.
The airport is able to accept Charter and Charter flights, has a General certificate for airport operations, and is able to serve up to 5 aircraft (passenger aircraft) and up to one hundred passengers per hour. In Soviet times, regular and summer flights were made to many cities of the country (Anapa, Voronezh, Ivanovo, Leningrad, Moscow, Mineralnye Vody, etc.), as well as (on an-2 aircraft) to a number of localities in the Republic.
Currently accepted aircraft types An-24, An-26, An-30, An-32, An-72, An-74, Il-114, Tu-134, Yak-40, Yak-42, ATR 42, ATR 72, Bombardier CRJ 100/200, Embraer EMB 120 Brasilia and all lighter helicopters of all types.

 At the moment, the scenario is already becoming historical, as the airfield is undergoing modernization and reconstruction.

At the airfield from 1952 to 1994 was based 681 th fighter aviation regiment PVO of the 86th fighter aviation division PVO (1952 to 1960), 28th division air defense (1960-1994) 4th PVO army. MiG-15bis (1953-1956), MiG-17 (1956-1968), su-15, su-15TM (1968-1982) and MiG-23P (1982-1994) were in service in different years. The regiment was formed on 08.04.1952. On September 1, 1994, the regiment was disbanded. The 156th obato (V/h 31557), 1254 obsrto (V/h 74434) were also stationed at the airfield)
Currently, the airfield has a repair and technical base and a training center (FSB air group).
