Description
Mok (AYMK) Airstrip is located in PNG, on New Britain Island. It is a 565 Metre gravel runway with grass coverage and muddy patches mainly on and around the steep slope and turning area. The runway has a 34/17 configuration. It is notable by its 4.4% slope, especially at the northern end, where the runway rises 35 feet over a short distance. Keep your speed up on landing, to easily climb to the parking area.
The runway is one way, meaning you land on 34, and take off on 16. This is due to the slope and high trees at the northern end. The airstrip has a left hand circuit.
This version of Mok has a Touch Down Zone(TDZ) on runway 34 of 1010 feet. The highest elevation of the runway is 1100ft, at the parking zone. The airport build was challenging due to creating Terraformed levels on sloping ground. I restricted terraform changes to a minimum because of MSFS periodical elevation data changes. Make sure you allow for the runway slope when landing. This project took 38 saved edit sessions over 3 weeks, and had over 350 scenery items and objects placed.
The closest airstrips are Kompaim(AYAQ) 15nm and Hoskings(AYHK), 68nm. The Missionary Pilots base of Goroka(AYGA) is 220 nm away.
