    Description

    The Beriev A-50 is a russian quad-jet AWACS aircraft, based on the IL76. It is being frequently used by Russian Air Defence and is one of its key factors.

    This addon was converted from my old IL76 Addon and works natively in FS2024. I converted the old model to match FS2024 standards and it uses a B747-8I cockpit from MSFS2020 with adapted textures.

    Not compatible with MSFS2020

    It currently has 4 Liveries :

    • RF-50602
    • RF-93953
    • RF-50601
    • RF-50606

    The door can be opened with the Wing Light Switch or Keybind.

    The radar dome also spins like it should during real missions.

    Animations like some control surfaces are a work-in-progress but i will continue working on this project!

    I have fine-tuned many values to match the real-world aircraft and the start-up procedure is just like in the 747.

    Copy the main folder to your community folder and happy flying!

    I don't often give praise for freeware aircraft usually, but i decided to try this one even though i've never been a fan of aircraft with raydomes.
    Gotta say, for being a work in progress, this is a very promissing airframe. It flies pretty well and had no major issues while flying, other than the throttles being stuck when first launching it. The existing animations surprised me on how well implemented they actually are. For some feedback from my experience:

    * The engine audio doesn't change from climb thrust to TOGA, which means that the same audio queue for those different sequences is applied, even though TOGA is supposed to have the highest pitched engine noise and humming sound from the high speed airflow.
    * I could not see any front gear rotations during taxi.
    * Rudder deflection animations are also not really a thing.
    * Visible elevator trim animations are also missing.
    * I know this has been said to death, but engine animations would be very cool to have :)
    * I know this would require a lot of effort, but i really, really hope you're considering implementing the actual cockpit 3D model and textures, cause at least for me, having the default 747 cockpit kinda throws me out of the overall experience of flying this unique aircraft.
    * If a custom cockpit would be implemented, i would also tweak the amount of trim being applied, cause the default 747 trim rate is way too fast.

    Overall, this project is very promissing and with especially the implementation of a custom cockpit, would make this aircraft really the next must have for me. Keep on the good work.

    Hi Folcorr, tried the model in msfs2020, the interior is perfect, but the external textures are all pink. Pity.

    That's right, because I converted the old textures to the new format, which are not compatible with MSFS2020.

    There's a mod floating around here that will convert FS2024 ktx2 down to FS2020 DDS. you'll just need to cut n past into the aitrcraft model to overwrite the textures.

    If i did that the textures would be pink in FS2024, i've tried it already.
