Description
Here is the 100th Bomber Groups 42-6087 - "Royal Flush" repaint of the Microprose - B-17G.
The Royal Flush (serial number 42-6087) was a B-17 Flying Fortress assigned to the 100th Bomb Group, specifically the 418th Bomb Squadron, based at RAF Thorpe Abbotts during World War II. It is most famous for being the only aircraft from the 100th Bomb Group to return from the disastrous Münster mission on 10 October 1943.
The Münster Mission (10 October 1943)
On this day, the 100th Bomb Group launched 13 aircraft to bomb the railway workers and marshalling yards at Münster, Germany. The mission became a defining moment for the group:
- Sole Survivor: Piloted by Lt Robert "Rosie" Rosenthal, the Royal Flush was the only one of the 13 B-17s to make it back to base.
- Severe Damage: The aircraft returned with two engines out, a large hole in the right wing, and non-functional oxygen and intercom systems. Ground crews later found an unexploded cannon shell in one of its wing tanks.
- Legendary Status: This mission solidified the unit's nickname, the "Bloody Hundredth," due to the heavy losses. Rosenthal was awarded the Silver Star for his skill in nursing the crippled plane home.
Final Fate
While it survived the Münster raid, the Royal Flush was eventually lost on 11 August 1944 during a mission to Villacoublay, France.
- The Incident: The aircraft was hit by flak in the #3 engine, causing it to crash near Clamart, a suburb of Paris.
- Casualties: Four crew members (including pilot Alfred Aske) were killed in action, two became prisoners of war, and three managed to evade capture.
- Memorial: A plaque in the cemetery of Clamart now commemorates the crew of the Royal Flush.

To instal this repaint just unzip the file into your Package/Community or Packages/Community2024 (MSFS2024) folder and the livery will appear in the sim alongside the Microprose liveries. I currently use MSFS addon linker to manage all my add-ons so if you use the same software, simply unzip the file into the liveries folder and then activate the livery within the software for MSFS2024.
Finally, if you love the repaint, please feel free to give it a like, or/and if you feel it’s worth it, please feel free to show your support with a donation towards more coffee for many more late nights designing and updating in the future.
