Description
This is a repaint for the Flyingiron Spitfire IX of TR.VIII MT818 "Dorothy".
This file includes two of MT818's liveries, representing the livery worn from 2016 - 2024 along with "Dorothy", a livery that was only shown for a short period in 2024.
MT818 is unique as the only surviving Spitfire prototype of any mark. This was the first and only ‘Spitfire High Speed Trainer Prototype’ trainer created by Vickers-Armstrong.
MT818 Was registered as G-AIDN and first took flight in September 1946, as N32. Between 1948 and 1953 the aircraft was a regular on the display and air race scene wearing numerous colour schemes. After suffering damage on landing, the aircraft was rebuilt and shipped to Texas in 1982, wearing the markings G-M as MT818. G-AIDN was one of the only 2 Seat Spitfires to fly and display in the USA, with TE308 also based in TX around the same era. The aircraft was shipped back to the UK in 2008 and flew out of High Wycombe, before being acquired by the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar in 2017. MT818's markings were removed from 2017 up to 2024, where it was repainted as "Dorothy" YO-D for a short time before yet another repaint in early 2025 wearing a livery from the 309th Fighter Squadron USAF WZ-JJ "Lady Ellen III". MT818 now offers passenger experiences in the aircraft with FlyaSpitfire out of Biggin Hill as of 2026.

As the aircraft is a trainer variant, the gunsight and cannons have been removed. It is recommended to disable these in the tablet and by clicking on the cannons.
Textures and markings on both liveries are taken from recent images, to ensure there are no inaccuracies for those who wish to enjoy this aircraft as authentically as possible. Also included is the unique green-blue undercarriage.
