About this addon
Proto-T1: The Versatile Jet Glider of Tomorrow.
Experience the unparalleled thrill of piloting the Proto-T1, the ultimate sci-fi Jet glider designed for the discerning virtual aviator. The Proto-T1 isn't just an aircraft; it's a gateway to the future, combining cutting-edge technology with sleek, aerodynamic design. What sets the Proto-T1 apart is its unique dual capability: glide effortlessly through the skies without the engine, harnessing the power of aerodynamics for a serene, silent flight—or ignite its powerful jet engine to experience the exhilarating rush of high-speed flight. Whether you prefer the peaceful glide of a sailplane or the adrenaline of jet-powered flight, the Proto-T1 delivers a seamless, immersive experience that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible in Flight Simulator 2020. Ready for takeoff? Step into the cockpit of the Proto-T1 and elevate your simulation to new heights.
Who is the Proto-T1 For?
The Proto-T1 is crafted for those who seek the ultimate in-flight versatility and, above all, fun. Whether you're a seasoned pilot looking to explore new possibilities or a casual flyer eager for a fresh, exciting experience, this aircraft is designed with you in mind. Its main goal is to offer a joyride like no other. The Proto-T1 is for the aviator who values freedom, adventure, and the sheer joy of flight. If your primary mission is to have fun in the virtual skies, the Proto-T1 is your perfect co-pilot.
Operation is simple, start the engine and wait for 17,500 RPM and fly like a jet or shut the engine and glide!
I'm currently working on a manual, but here are some quick things to mention:
- Pressing the teleport button will teleport you to the mothership; pressing it a second time will teleport you back to your previous location.
Speedboost will only work if the RPM is above 16,000, visible on the readout below the throttle lever and also in the popout panels. - Engine thrust is available at about 17,500 RPM or higher. The engine will provide no thrust if the fuel is depleted. 😊
- The side knobs can be adjusted by hovering over and moving the mouse wheel. Alternatively, in LOCK mode, you can hold the left mouse button and drag left and right; in LEGACY mode, hold the left mouse button when the arrow shows either clockwise or counterclockwise directions.
- The canopy will not open while in motion or if the main panels are open
- The panels are there as an alternative to the analog instruments. You can use either or both, whichever you prefer. I like to glide without the panel and in jet mode, fly with the panels.
I recommend hitting the menu button and turning on the AI voice. Besides the number of nonsensical things she might say, she also has some helpful comments when operating the aircraft.
Features:
- Teleport to the mothership for a sci-fi experience
- On board AI voice
- Comes with a Robopup companion, wag his tail!
- All custom designs, modeling and texturing.
- 19 custom liveries included.
Feedback is very welcome, kindly drop me an email with any bug reports. I'm at best a novice coder but will do my best to make any needed corrections.
Special thanks to all those that helped me with this project and testing:

Changelog
-Partially restored the autopilot so it has basic functionality of setting heading and altitude. It will currently only work with mouse interaction. If you engage autopilot with a physical button or keyboard then the status of the autopilot in the menu will not reflect the actual AP status. The NAV isn't working at all so I removed it temporarily. -There's still a number of issues that need correcting that worked perfectly fine in 2020 and are broken in 2024...thanks Microsoft for this most aggravating experience
-Corrected the overly dim menu caused by fs2024
v1.50 -fixed a bug that occurred when clicking on the Robopup's tail and the menu was closed. -updated to work with 2024. I was taken by surprise with the lack of backwards compatibility. I think they're definition of backwards compatibility is to go backwards so far that it's no longer compatible lol. It was so severe with the Proto T1 that it was unflyable. With this version it's working but there are definitely glitches. Some I was able to correct, others I'm struggling to find work arounds without having to do weeks of work recoding with the new 2024 modular system and new Asobo templates. To name a few: The autopilot feature seems to be completely broken. The tint control works but when hovering over the knob the tint is disabled. The main menu is overly dim. The list goes on but for now at least the Proto is flyable in the new sim.
- Lowered the reflectivity setting and transparency to the lowest it can go, any lower makes the glass completely transparent with no reflections, basically not visible. I'm not sure if it's a bug or I'm doing something wrong, still looking into it. - Fixed the fuel depletion sounds - Added an e-yawstring, toggle on/off in aircraft options - Added variometer sounds and a volume control located on the panel on the left side of the cockpit Choose a tone set from the aircraft options menu - Fixed texture mapping for the cockpit canopy trim - Fixed blinking seconds dots on digital clock (local computer time) -Tried to make the autopilot compatible with Logitech's autopilot panel but unfortunately when I wrote the code I didn't think of it. To make it work correctly would require a fresh start from scratch. I would be willing to do it if there's enough of an interest but for now it works fine with mouse control. If you have any problems, tap the Z key and it should be fine. I was only able to get the NAV working some of the time, if I were a better coder it would help. For now I'm putting it on hold so I can go on to other projects and when I find the time will have to redo the entire code from the beginning, my apologies.
Fixed autopilot being partially engaged on startup

I noticed there is a taxi mode (?) in the menu. I don't know how to use it though! Otherwise, this purchase was well worth the experience for someone who wishes more people would bring concept/scifi to sims.

Hi sir, Well designed, special thought and nice to fly; there is one irregularity however : whenever another glider is selected as aircraft , every time a glider from one of your liveries is used as a towplane. I restarted the sim again and the same happens; also with different airports selected i get the same result. I can add pictures of those selections if required.
I use msfs2020; changing in the file aircraft.cfg : categorie: aircraft to "glider" resolves the problem; but then the plane isn't visible anymore within the msfs aircraft selection menu
Thanks for posting the screen shot. I was hoping many of these issues would be resolved with 2024 updates to improve backwards compatibility but so far that hasn't happened. I will look into it and see if I can fix it.
Problem resolved with this update; thanks a lot for your work. kind regards

what a wonderful, fun aircraft. first off, it's a nice glider. second, all the little extras and touches that went into this are top-notch. from the textures to the sounds to the flexing wings, it's all so well done. i am so glad i took a chance on this. looking forward to your next creation! one suggestion (and maybe i missed this...) it would be nice to be able to reduce the amount of reflection on the inside of the canopy. it can get a little overwhelming at times depending on the lighting conditions
Thank you! You aren't the first to mention the strong reflections. I will put it on my list of things to adjust and will be released in a soon to come update. For now at least, at night time, you can lower the LED intensity with the LED knob on the left panel.
i know a couple of planes where you can click on the canopy (or a spot close by) that turns off reflections completely. one that comes to mind right away is the milviz t-6adv. one more idea for you to consider, how hard would it be to add sounds to the variometer like we have in other gliders? it would be something that could be turned off if you're jetting around but it would be a nice to have after i am gliding with the engine shut down.

If you want to try something different and fun this is it! This aircraft flies so well and is very well thought out and made. Definitely one I fly a lot now. Addition of an autopilot would be my only suggestion.
Thank you! The latest update has an autopilot feature in the main menu. Make sure you download the latest version v1.46. v1.45 had a bug with the autopilot.

The glider is well made but when I let go of the joystick the glider rises steeply into the sky. I have to constantly push the joystick forward to be able to fly straight at all. Is this normal or is it just me? Edit: Ok, I found the mistake...
Great, let me know if you have any other issues.

I flew a glider once in FS and decided to give this a try. Had the tacos, pushed the button I wasn't supposed to and most importantly had a fun time.
Glad to hear you had fun :).

Hello A super glider that I love to fly. Would it be an option for you to convert the speedometer to km/h? Would be a great change as I come from Europe and would like it in km/h. Otherwise a very cool mod. Many thanks for that.
Thank you! Yes, I have a number of feature requests I'm working on, will add yours to the list.

This thing is a beauty! You can tell from the instant you get in just how much fun 61tree has put into the creation of it, and the love and care for every aspect included shines through. Then, the more you fly and discover about it, that feeling is just heightened further. It flies very well, capable but not ridiculously so in glider mode, and all the fun extras, Easter Eggs to find and overall quality of production is sky high. It just makes you smile! It is not too serious but also not as whacky as it seems. Everything works as you would expect but there is so much more here than meets the eye. A real passion project if ever I saw one! The design of the model is wonderful - really well shaped curves and there are tons of realistic believable and creative animations all over the place. The wing flex and canvas covering is one of the best I have seen, utterly convincing (especially in VR!). Sounds are great, and fun. It is way above and beyond what is needed for making a product like this which is clearly intended as a bit of fun and something out of the norm, and I love it for that! Highly recommended from me. Just DON'T PRESS THE RED BUTTON. Actually if you are in VR, go for it! :D
Thank you!

Only had an opportunity to take it for a quick spin but what an enjoyable flight it was. About the only thing it's really missing for me is some kind of improved navigation system. Given it's range and speed, it would be great to navigate more easily whilst touring. I would like to see the visuals from the PMS50 integrated somehow (maybe in the popup panels) but understand this may not fit in with the visuals that Robii is going for. It's certainly high tech enough.
Glad you enjoy it, I would love to add in a navigation system, providing I'm able to implement it and have the time. It's on my list for a future update.

This really is a cool addon. It's obvious you put a lot of work into it. I had reservations about purchasing a fictional addon, but I really enjoyed flying it. It's especially fun to watch the wings as you're soaring. There are a lot more features than first meets the eye. The thing is a work of art! Nice job.
Thank you so much, much more planned for future releases, stay tuned.
