The Ryan Navion B, originally designed and built by North American Aviation in the 1940s, is a single-engine, unpressurized, retractable gear, four-seat aircraft. Hangar Studios 713 has recreated this iconic aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This variant, often referred to as the Super Navion 260, is equipped with a powerful 260 HP Continental IO-520 fuel-injected engine. The aircraft has been 3D modeled with over 2 million polygons, based on a real Navion B and with valuable inputs from real aviation pilots and owners. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the aircraft, from the exterior textures to the fully animated and operational clickables in the cockpit.
The aircraft boasts up to 8K resolution PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures. Hangar Studios 713 has included 10 highly detailed liveries for the Ryan Navion B, with four of them being exact replicas of liveries from real Navions. The Navion B includes a detailed checklist with 16 categories and 128 checks. Users can access the checklist through the simulator's checklist drop-down or via an in-sim tablet page. Additionally, a comprehensive manual is provided in the aircraft's documentation file. A dedicated tablet is included in the aircraft, offering an airplane diagram and a directory of all usable clickables.
The Navion B comes equipped with default GNS430/530 GPS units. However, for those seeking a more advanced navigation experience, the aircraft provides compatibility with the PMS50 GTN750 mod and the TDS GTNXI mod. These mods, with native Working Title integration, offer a wider range of avionics options to suit individual preferences. Additionally, an authentic KAP140 Autopilot, based on open-source code, allows users to experience the functionality of a real KAP140 system. The aircraft features a GTX330 Transponder, GMA350 Audio Panel, and AS87 ADF for a complete avionics suite. Working circuit breakers, a detailed landing gear with nose steering capabilities, and suspension animations further enhance the realism of the simulation. The animated canopy, complete with a real Navion override lever, allows users to fly with the top back.
The Ryan Navion B is now available to purchase on the Flightsim.to Store.
