Houston's second major commercial airport now has a detailed representation in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Fly2High has released its rendition of William P. Hobby Airport (KHOU), bringing one of the busiest domestic hubs in the Houston area to life for simmers looking to explore this corner of Texas aviation.
William P. Hobby Airport has long served as a key gateway for domestic flights into Houston, operating alongside the larger George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Known for its compact terminal layout and steady stream of Southwest Airlines traffic, Hobby offers a different flavor of operations compared to its international counterpart, making it an interesting addition for pilots who enjoy flying regional and domestic routes in and out of Texas.
Fly2High's take on KHOU focuses on recreating the airport's terminals, aprons, taxiways, and ground infrastructure with a close attention to detail. The scenery includes custom-modeled airport buildings alongside ground textures and markings designed to reflect the real-world look of the airfield, including weathering effects that add a sense of realism to the pavement and surrounding structures.
Beyond the core structures, the package adds a layer of environmental detail through airport clutter, vehicles, and vegetation scattered throughout the grounds. Night lighting has also been implemented, while animated environmental elements contribute to a more lived-in atmosphere during your approach, landing, and taxi.
