Venice Marco Polo Airport sits on the edge of the Venetian Lagoon, offering one of the more memorable arrival experiences in commercial aviation. Just a short boat ride from the historic canals of Venice itself, the airport has long been a popular destination for simmers drawn to its waterside setting and distinctive surroundings. Atelic has now released a highly detailed recreation of Venice Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator, available as dedicated versions for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.

    Terminal interior

The scenery recreates Venice Marco Polo Airport as it stands with its 2026 layout, including the terminal's latest extension. Rather than offering a single cross-compatible package, Atelic has developed separate versions for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024, each built using the SDK features specific to its respective simulator. The result is a scenery tailored to take full advantage of whichever platform you fly on.

The terminal itself has been modeled inside and out, covering check-in areas, security checkpoints, duty-free shops, lounges, retail spaces and boarding gates. Beyond the apron, the scenery extends into the surrounding environment with custom satellite imagery, custom terrain reaching into the lagoon marshlands, and detailed recreations of nearby canals and waterways.

    Apron and ground detail

You'll find landmarks such as Associazione Nautica Bubi and several boat yards modeled along the water, with animated boat traffic running between the airport and the islands of Murano. A detailed boat terminal, complete with its own modeled interior, ties this waterside activity into the airport's layout.

The airport buildings extend to a detailed control tower with a modeled interior, as well as the Leonardo and SuperJet International hangars, the latter including a modeled interior as well. Custom roads, landside infrastructure and vegetation round out the airport's surroundings, while animated vehicles and other scenery animations add life to the apron and surrounding areas.

    Night lighting

Atelic has included a dedicated configurator with this scenery, allowing you to choose between static and animated passengers, adjust people density, and toggle selected scenery elements on or off. This extends to performance considerations as well, with configurable scenery detail options designed to help the airport run well across a range of system specifications.

Throughout the airport, you'll also find a number of smaller details scattered around the terminal and surrounding grounds, rewarding those who take the time to explore.

    Boat terminal and canals

It's worth noting that in MSFS 2020, World Update IX: Italy can cause terrain issues with this scenery. This issue does not affect the MSFS 2024 version. LIPZ - Venice Airport is available now for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024 through the Flightsim.to Store. You can find more details and purchase the scenery via the official product page ➡️ LIPZ - Venice Airport.
