Skiathos International Airport is one of the most talked-about airports in the Greek islands, largely thanks to its short runway and the low approaches that bring arriving aircraft close over the beach below. Located on the island of Skiathos in the Aegean Sea, the airport has long attracted aviation photographers who gather on the sand to watch aircraft pass just overhead on final approach. M'M Simulations has now brought this distinctive airport to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, giving you the chance to experience one of the most recognizable landings in the region from the cockpit.
The scenery package delivers a detailed recreation of Skiathos International, covering both the airside and landside areas of the airport. The terminal building has been modeled with attention to its interior spaces, custom-built structures replace generic assets throughout the airport grounds, and the ground markings, taxiways, and surrounding pavement have been recreated to reflect the airport's actual layout. The control tower also received interior detailing.
Around the airport, the surrounding terrain and local landmarks have been handcrafted to match the real environment. Night operations are supported through a custom lighting setup designed to replicate the airport's illumination after dark, and the scenery includes airport facilities such as emergency vehicle buildings and ground service structures to round out the overall presentation. Built natively for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the scenery takes advantage of the platform's current rendering capabilities, and it's worth noting that this version is not designed for MSFS 2020.
