Developer Chak991 has released a refreshed native scenery package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, delivering an updated representation of FYWH that brings meaningful visual improvements over what the simulator provides by default. The add-on is described as the "24 native version", meaning it has been built specifically for MSFS 2024's scenery system, taking advantage of the platform's current rendering capabilities.
The package introduces newly created 3D models throughout the airport, replacing generic placeholders with geometry better suited to the real-world layout of Hosea Kutako. Alongside the modelling work, updated PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures have been applied, allowing surfaces to respond more realistically to lighting conditions across different times of day and weather states.
Custom ground textures and custom markings round out the visual overhaul, giving the apron and taxiway surfaces a more grounded, location-appropriate appearance. Importantly, Chak991 has kept the parking positions unchanged from the previous iteration of the scenery, which means that any existing GSX ground services profiles created for this airport should remain fully compatible.
Early community feedback has been positive, with reviewers praising both the quality of the work and the significance of seeing Namibia represented more faithfully in the simulation space.
