Creator laserjet34 has just released a new freeware scenery package for Bergerac - Roumanière Airport (ICAO: LFBE, IATA: EGC) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Bergerac - Roumanière Airport, also marketed as Bergerac Dordogne Périgord Airport, sits approximately three kilometres from the town centre of Bergerac, on the southern bank of the Dordogne river in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. In real world, the airport handles scheduled international routes to destinations including the United Kingdom, Scotland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Italy, while also supporting a lively general aviation and leisure flying community. Its controlled airspace, ILS/DME approach on runway 27, and dual-surface runway configuration — a 2,205-metre paved strip alongside a 700-metre grass runway reserved for based aircraft — make it an interesting and operationally varied destination for simulator pilots of all disciplines.
Now at version 1.1, this scenery package introduces updated departure gates and reworked ground markings, alongside a refreshed VAC card and a dedicated compatibility fix for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The airport's infrastructure is represented in considerable detail: the 3,000 m² passenger terminal building, commercial and general aviation parking areas, hangars, and a fuel station supplying both 100LL and Jet A1 are all present. The Bergerac flying club adds further authenticity to the general aviation corner of the airfield.
Roughly 70% of the buildings and objects were modelled from scratch in Blender and textured predominantly using physically-based rendering (PBR) techniques, lending the scenery a consistent and grounded visual quality. Period-appropriate vehicular details are woven throughout — a Buick Riviera and a black Citroën DS19 dressed as a taxi populate the airport grounds.
Operationally, the scenery reflects the real airport's capabilities accurately. The aerodrome is approved for both night VFR and IFR operations, and the package represents the relevant lighting infrastructure accordingly, including low and high-intensity runway lighting and PAPI indicators for each landing direction. Correct frequencies are documented for simulation use: ATIS on 127.475 MHz, approach on 119.275 MHz, and tower on 119.800 MHz.
