Microsoft Flight Simulator's World Update XXI brought Australia into sharper focus, delivering a sweeping refresh of airports and scenery across the continent. Like many of the sim's official world updates, however, the release arrived with a handful of rough edges — misplaced static aircraft, untextured objects, and other visual oddities that can pull you out of the experience. Community modder 🔗 Snoopy7412 has stepped in with the Australia World Update Fix, a freeware package that quietly addresses many of these issues across a broad range of Australian airports, available now on Flightsim.to for both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024.

World updates have consistently been one of the more exciting recurring additions to Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing hand-crafted airports, improved photogrammetry, and region-specific detail to areas of the globe that were previously underrepresented. That said, the community has long played an important role in filling the gaps that official updates sometimes leave behind — and this mod is a good example of that tradition in action.

The fix targets a range of cosmetic and visual consistency issues found across multiple airports included in World Update XXI. Generic static aircraft rendered in unrealistic candy colours have been replaced with more appropriate and convincing alternatives. Untextured objects that appeared broken or placeholder-like have been cleaned up, and an unusual abundance of duplicate or triple windsocks — a quirk that may raise an eyebrow or two on approach — has been resolved. At RAAF Base Tindal, the fighter aircraft present in the default scenery have been swapped out for F/A-18s, a more accurate representation of the base's real-world role as home to No. 75 Squadron of the Royal Australian Air Force.

Ground textures at several locations have also received attention, contributing to a cleaner overall appearance on the ramp and surrounding areas. The mod is packaged with separate folders for each airport, a thoughtful structural decision that keeps performance impact to a minimum — you can drop only what you need into your Community folder without pulling in unnecessary data for airports you don't intend to visit. No third-party dependencies are required.

If you fly regularly across Australia in MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024 and want a tidier experience at the airports introduced in World Update XXI, this is a straightforward, no-dependency fix worth having in your Community folder.
