SamScene3D has released Version 2 of New York City Times for Microsoft Flight Simulator, delivering a significant update to one of the most iconic urban landscapes in the simulator. The new version is built specifically for MSFS2024, incorporating a range of improvements and new features that enhance the realism and immersion of New York City.

Version 2 includes over 300 custom iconic buildings, which is an increase of 50 compared to the previous version for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. These additions cover a vast array of well-known landmarks, including museums, malls, hotels, banks, towers, plazas, memorials, statues, universities, and hospitals, making the cityscape even more recognizable. SamScene3D has also focused on enhancing the Time Square area, with animating billboards and an updated year sign reflecting 2025.

More than 160 buildings now feature PBR and 4K texture materials, alongside better color adjustments and night lighting compared to the previous version. The bridges connecting Manhattan, such as the Manhattan Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, and Queensboro Bridge, are now highly detailed and include animated moving cable cars.

The new version is available for $17.95 USD excluding VAT. If you already own Version 1 for MSFS2020, you can upgrade to Version 2 for a reduced price of $5.95 USD excluding VAT. You can purchase and download the new version from Flightsim.to.

No one has answered. I have both 2020 and 2024. Does the update work on both?

It says this is built “specifically for MSFS 2024”, so that means it is 2024 only. You can double check any file offering here for compatibility to 2020/2024 by the link to it. In this case, the 2020 compatibility is marked with a red X meaning not compatible with 2020.
I’m also one of the few it seems left of us who is planning on staying with 2020 for some time, at least until I can afford better hardware to run 2024 at the same settings I am in 2020 (4K, ultra slider settings). And I will have had 2020 for four years this summer…the longest run I’ve ever had with MS Flight Simulator and each new iteration since FS95. Except FSX of course which we had to wait 14 years in replacement for, so I don’t really count that.

BE VERY AWARE…… It takes ages & ages (>5 mins) to load every time I try & fly there & that’s loading from an M.2 SSD. When you click Fly now the map seem starts of blurry then sharpens. It keeps doing this for far too long!

There are a LOT of us on 2020. 2024 is an unmitigated disaster the moment….as usual.

To be honest, I am just plain not impressed with Xbox Flight Simulator 2024. And I say it like that because 2024 feels to me like some sick joke of taking the flying gameplay out of GTA V and giving it HOTAS controls. My system is nothing to thumb your nose at and yet the terrain down low, you know, where Helicopters fly, is so ugly and the photogrammetry so sub-par, that even FS2004 had better looking buildings.. I put 300 hours into 2024 waiting for them to “fix” it and hoping against hope that I hadn’t wasted my money but ultimately, I just reinstalled 2020 and am so much the happier for it.
