REX Simulations has just released REX Atmos, a new visual enhancement utility for Microsoft Flight Simulator designed to transform the look of the virtual environment, from the ground to the sky. REX Atmos offers a comprehensive suite of tools to improve weather and atmospheric conditions to tweak visual details or to boost realism.

REX Atmos boasts real-time rendering capabilities that allow you to see changes instantly as you adjust your environmental settings. It integrates seamlessly with a range of weather engines, including REX Weather Force, ActiveSky, and Asobo's live weather system, making it compatible with virtually any setup. With full customization options, you can tailor everything from cloud color to lighting effects, and you can create and share unique weather environments with others.

One of REX Atmos’s standout features is its ability to address the common issue of dark, unrealistic "ash clouds" that sometimes appear in the simulator. These are replaced with more natural, visually stunning clouds that can be fine-tuned according to personal preferences. Additionally, the utility offers advanced atmospheric features like true Rayleigh scattering and an ozone function, which bring even greater realism to how light and color interact with the virtual environment.

Priced at $14.99 USD (excluding VAT) available now on Flightsim.to, REX Atmos delivers a solid enhancement to the visual aspects of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Its non-destructive approach ensures that you can easily revert to the simulator’s original settings if needed, and it has been confirmed to be also available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Unfortunately I feel like this is too late to the game with 2024 around the corner. Definitely would have bought this in 2023

No, I did not, good catch. However, '24 has been advertising improved atmospheric lighting, so it seems less likely I would need this. I am going to hold off to see comparisons between '20+rex and '24 before potentially buying this

I thoughts also. I think 2024 will contain updated Atmosphere.

I bought it, even with 2024 appearing soon.As I fly almost daily, it is still worth for 6 weeks to pay 15€ to get the improvement, it offers.
And I still think that it will have it's value in 2024. Even if atmosphere and lighting will be improved, I hardly can imagine that it is perfect. And to be able to adjust some details with the simple move of some sliders, is good to have also in 2024 :)

I see such clouds in my simulator without any additional crutches. I don't understand what to give $ 15 for)))

For me it has a huge impact while already having everything optimized with reshade and tweaks here and there. It looks incredible with Atmos, 15 bucks worth it!!

Yes but 24 will make it redundant. So what the point?

15 quid is nothing. Looks good and will tide me over while we wait for 2024's launch and for it to mature a bit.

Bought it.... tried it... very impressed.. no more orange skies (maybe interpreted as being a little too blue?? But we have blue light scattering as the norm !!). Very pleased with the purchase. One thing.... it would have bene much better if the app started automatically with MSFS start-up, and it auto-selecting the previously used preset, as its a pain in the butt having to manually start everything...... .OR.. like me.... recording a 2 hour flight to be able to demonstrate Atmos to friends.... then realising that although I started it up.. i didnt select a preset .... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!!!

I bought this product very apprehensive about it, but for the price, why not give this a go. I certainly glad that I did. Though there are no instructions, you can figure it out, and I was amazed in the difference this makes. I have included some shots coming into Tampa before Hurricane Milton causes the weather to go sour. I think you will be amazed. REX studios did a superb job on this one.

Finally I can set a reasonable sunset. This totally exaggerated sunset with the colors that were way too strong in the MSFS annoyed me. Now I have the typical colors for my region and I am totally satisfied with the addon. I didn't buy it here, but it only cost $3 because I had already accumulated so many points there.

I bought it to try. And if I'm not totally satisfied with it, it's because I think I haven't yet understood/learned all the options/possibilities. Here are some before/after screenshots, depending on the weather at my place (a few km south of the airport) at different day times and the simulator rendering. Atmos absolutely keeps all its promises
