Microsoft has officially announced the release date for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Scheduled for November 19th, 2024, it will be available on multiple platforms, including Xbox, Game Pass, and Steam. During the recent Xbox Games Showcase, a trailer revealed the release date and showcased various features of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The trailer highlighted different aviation experiences, including air racing and hot air balloon tours, providing an overview of the career paths available within the simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 utilizes advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing. These technologies aim to enhance realism and detail, with the game incorporating satellite data and Azure AI for intricate landscapes, dynamic weather patterns, and lifelike environments. The simulator features a wide range of aircraft, including commercial airliners, helicopters, and experimental aircraft. The virtual environments are detailed and varied, covering global locations from urban cityscapes to remote wilderness areas.

    Gameplay and Realistic Simulations

The game offers a variety of missions and scenarios, such as aerial firefighting, search-and-rescue operations, cargo transport, and scientific research. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 introduces new features, including a dedicated photography mode and improved human models. Dynamic environmental effects, such as the Northern Lights, further enhance the realism and immersion of the simulator.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 will be available on Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. It will also be accessible through Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass from the release date, allowing subscribers immediate access.

Will we need to pay for it as a seperate game or do we get it for free if we already own Msfs 2020?

Yes, it's a separate game. Your addons (Or most of them) will work with the new sim.

I'm never one to purchase anything on day one! Typically, I wait for the reviews to start pouring in from our reputable streamers and YouTubers. However, this looks promising. If you're considering it, disregard all the noise around you with what people "THINK" it's going to be without knowing what it actually will be.
Some may think it's game'ish, some will think otherwise. We will simply have to wait and see. My guess, if you can port your MSFS 2020 addons over to the new platform, it can't be that bad. But again, we will wait and see.

Potentially the first proper, traditional Microsoft Flight Simulator since 2006.

Awesome, it's just getting better and better. I hope 2024 will use multi threading and take advantage of more RAM. VR is a must.

Agreed. It would be a shame if the add-ons and current planes would be incompatible. Not sure if that's technologically possible. :(

Well, according to *Asobo Studios*, your MSFS 2020 addons, and I'm thinking more particularly the payware stuff, will be compatible with the new simulator version. This leads me to believe, in theory at least, that the 2024 version should turn out to be a fairly serious simulator in addition to the game'ish stuff others are proclaiming.
