Microsoft's hotly anticipated Sim Update 15  has regrettably encountered yet another setback. While the release was initially projected for early May, recent revelations have necessitated a further delay, with no definitive new launch date provided. The journey of Sim Update 15 has been marred by a series of postponements. Originally slated for a March 12th rollout, the update was first pushed back to March 26th, then to April 30th, and subsequently to May 7th, before encountering its latest impediment.

The root cause of this most recent delay stems from the emergence of critical issues during the testing phase of the previous beta build, version 1.37.15.0. Two major problems were identified: a WebAssembly (WASM) "missing content" error and performance degradation on the Xbox platform, manifesting as stuttering and freezing during flight sessions. While the newest beta update, version 1.37.17.0, has successfully addressed the WASM error and resolved minor glitches like DX12 aerial pop-in artifacts, the Xbox stuttering and freezing issues persist, attributed to recent updates to the Game Development Kit (GDK).

In an attempt to mitigate the Xbox performance issues temporarily, the development team has suggested enabling the rolling cache option within the simulator's General Options menu. This interim measure aims to reduce the likelihood of encountering stuttering and freezing during flights while the team works to identify and resolve the underlying cause. Asobo Studio, the driving force behind Microsoft Flight Simulator, has set its sights on delivering a comprehensive fix for the Xbox stuttering and freezing by the following week. However, this timeline implies that the release of Sim Update 15 will likely be pushed back by at least two weeks or more, as the new version will require additional testing and validation.

While the wait may be frustrating, the anticipation surrounding Sim Update 15 is well-justified, as it promises a multitude of improvements and additions to the already impressive Flight Simulator experience. For example, Working Title has been entrusted with revamping the Garmin G3X avionics suite, a pivotal component of many aircraft within the simulator.  The update will also introduce iniBuilds' highly anticipated A320 neo aircraft. This new variant of the Airbus narrowbody promises to deliver enhanced levels of detail and accuracy. Sim Update 15 will also bring forth improvements to the AI traffic system and a revamped ground physics system.

Definitely better they delay it than release it broken - which they have done for many SU’s in a row now for the Xbox users.Have to say, since moving over to PC I have barely had an issue, maybe some scenery bleeding/popping here and there, but barely a CTD or blank screens issue etc (am on the SU15 Beta).I think it’s a good thing they’re (finally) doing a little more on this release so that everyone can enjoy it without frustration when it comes out (hopefully!).

Man I can't even get MSFS to load these days. Just stuck on the loading screen. Switching to DCS and maybe looking into X-Plane until things settle down in this arena. We're building ourselves a decaying tech prison in the modern world. Surrounded and dependent on tech that doesn't quite work right.

Hope they NEVER release it, my sim is working fine, to hell with these mandatory updates that keep breaking the sim

To be honest, I some kind of knew on thursday evening (2024-05-02) that SU-15 will be delayed again. How?Microsoft rarely releases on fridays and mondays, not even beta-versions.And knowing that the Beta should run a few days in public before it will be releases to the rest of the world made it clear on thursday that the tuesday will come and go without official release of SU-15.

In my opinion, Xbox - PC compatibility has not existed, it is just a degradation of one for the benefit of the other. It has only been a very good economic decision and they have made great progress in favor of simulation thanks to it. Which of course I am very grateful. Good progress has been made thanks to the challenges for developers for the benefit of simulation. There will come a time when different paths must be taken because they are different systems. And as Palpatine said: "the time has come...." 😄

Nope. It´s not saved. It´s a bug they could have fixed in a couple of hours, but they won´t.Every time you play the sim you have to activate Full Screen because it always defaults to Windowed Mode.

    Wish updates were not mandatory.

OK. but what was promised should have been implemented long ago with the new update. From the incomprehensible article, it seems that we are supposed to wait for some simulator improvements there! That's the way to wait and they haven't given an update date yet. It looks like we'll be waiting for 15 for a long time yet.... Nonsense and more nonsense write!!!

Thank you xbox peasants for delaying the update to pc users again

i not need ini's a320. ini A310 was sooooooooooooo terrible, so you can't expect it. The translations were terrible and the checklists weren't working.

    Sims are not for consoles...

The update of SU15 will most probably break something else within the sim, getting updates is good, prefereably bug free, kudos to the developers. 😄

we don t care about xbox.sim is not for console.console is for children

Dude theres tons of bugs. Missing texture squares, full screen not sticking, frame gen being buggy. It needs to be updated because other people that aren't you still have issues.

Star Citizen is already less buggy and more features and gameplay than MSFS

Apparently, they have outgrown this amendment!!

"minor glitches like DX12 aerial pop-in artifacts" not minor at all for many of us who have been posting about this bug for a long time. Glad it finally has been addressed; from my experience it has completely been fixed in this latest beta build.

I was just thinking the same, it would appear that update 15 will be the last significant offering prior to 2024 comming out. lets hope as much support as provided for 2020 is affforded to teh next incarnation.

Will the Inibuilds 320 replace the default easy to use 320? And will it be like the A310, i.e. unable to load flightplans created in the World Map?
