Community Creator Phobos_Designs has just released their latest scenery, Boulder Municipal Airport, on Flightsim.to. This airport is located just northeast of Boulder, Colorado, and is primarily used for general aviation - especially exiciting for those who love flying in the Rockies! Boulder Municipal Airport sees hundreds of flights per day and tens of thousands per year, with the majority of flights made up of general aviation aircraft. Glider operations at Boulder are some of the best in the nation and offer both the Soaring Society of Boulder as well as Mile High Gliding.

With this new scenery, you will be able to soar around the Rocky Mountain peaks and along the Continental Divide, with views of Longs Peak, Nederland, and the Alpine Lakes just west of the city, along with Bear Peak, Green Mountain, and the famous Flatirons. But be aware, calm eastern winds can shift suddenly to western, prompting a more difficult takeoff on 26G over the lake and trees with few opportunities for an emergency landing. Boulder glider pilots can also enjoy steady wave soaring when the weather hits just right during the year, allowing for extensive cross country travel along the Rockies to other states and back.

The airport itself features handcrafted buildings, infrastructure, and details around the entire airport boundary. Additionally, glider operations are included, with the addition of runway 8G/26G on the north side of the field, along with gliders, glider trailers, parking, Soaring Society of Boulder facilities, and Mile High Gliding facilities. You'll also find nearby points of interest for the two runway 8G outlanding fields: Elliot's Field and L-Shaped Field. For those who love details, you'll be happy to know that the custom runways and taxiways match the current airport layout, and the most recent aerial imagery of the airport's surrounding area has been cleaned up and is in the highest resolution available.

If you're looking to do some general aviation flying or enjoy some glider operations in a beautiful mountainous setting, be sure to check out Phobos_Designs' Boulder Municipal Airport scenery on Flightsim.to! Happy flying!

This looks amazing! I've walked to the Boulder airport when staying at the nearby Residence Inn. You've done a fantastic job. Thank you for sharing this!

Thank you for the kind words - this started as a project for myself, but quickly became too much to not share here. Hope you enjoy!

    Amazing!
Would love to see you do KEIK right near Boulder, in Erie for those short flights to KBDU!

Thanks for that - I'm aware of Erie and am sure you all probably get missed due to being just a little east on the plains! I'm going to focus on continued updates for KBDU at the moment (after a little break), but I will keep it in the list of ideas!

Your work is top notch! What a beautiful piece of work you have created! Would you give any thought to creating Rocky Mountain Municipal Airport? It has always been my favorite since a child growing up in Jefferson County? The views and varied type of business and aircraft that fly from there is amazing. Thanks again for Boulder Municipal!

I'd totally be behind KBJC as well -- I have tons of pics around the terminal already if needed. Downloading this KBDU now to check out!

I would love to hit more regional / public airports in the area over time. I'm near KBDU so I've made many trips out for photos to reference and would just need to determine if that's a similar need for other nearby airports and what the investment will take (KBDU has been hundreds of hours for sure!).
    Enjoy and thank you!

Just replied above on my thoughts on it - would consider it in the future! It looks like there's a version of KBJC on here now, but possibly was a port from FSX from the looks of it.
Just added a fairly decent update to KBDU you should check out if you tried the original. Enjoy and cheers!

Only one guy here doing this as a side hobby for fun 😅
Adding KFNL to my list of options in the future!
