    Laminar Research today announced the release of the long-awaited X-Plane 12. Although the development of X-Plane 12 is already very far advanced, the flight simulation will still enter an early access phase. In X-Plane 12, every major aspect of how Laminar Research simulates the world and its effects on aviation has been rewritten based on first-principles physics and real-world data with tireless pursuit of realism.

    If you want to become an early adopter, you can buy X-Plane 12 for around 60,- US dollars - soon on Steam or directly on the Laminar Research website. If you want to test it first, you can also get the demo version on the official website.

    If they would have left the MSFS2020 being released on August 18th as it was and just fixed the problems then, it would be running perfect now since two years. BUT - over those two years they've constantly added tons and tons of new stuff to the sim, most of it free for all - they're listening to the users and try to add more and more stuff to the sim all the time. So constantly new functions and addons WILL break constantly a program and it will never be running perfect, unless they stop adding more and more and just leave it, as it is. X-Plane might have it a lot easier, because users of that sim won't get by far such an amount of new stuff over the next two years, so it will have it a lot easier, to be running with less problems ... MSFS2020 users are getting such an amount of new stuff for free constantly plus getting free server time to grab detailed world terrain data, which would be way to expensive in cost to buy and to store on the users PCs ...

    Agreed but perhaps they should concentrate on fixing bugs that still exist from sim update 5 rather than introducing new freeware which in turn introduces more problems. For me its simple, fix the bugs and then introduce more freeware, most of which is pretty poor to be fair, especially where aircraft are concerned. Microsoft/Asobo have cost me 2 complete re installations of this sim as I had to change user names and start afresh after they (NOT ME) corrupted my data storage. They refused to move my marketplace purchases over to my new install and as such cost me over £1000 to re purchase what I had already owned. I don't have a lot of time for them at all to be honest as I don't think they are very capable. Microsoft and xBox I should add took over control of my PC and even they were unable to retrieve my saved data and get my original install to run, that speaks volumes to me. The fact that they also claimed they were unable to move my Marketplace purchases was also alarming!!

    What a bunch of BS. Seems to me you have no idea what you are doing with your PC. I have been running MSFS since the release without a single issue and with a ton of addons. If you have problems it is on your side.

    Sadly I'm afraid every comment I made is TRUE, and I also build computers myself. Microsoft now have a fix for the data loss but this Zendesk fix came way to late for me as my PC crashed in January and I was still unable to launch the game in March, the fix came in May 2022. Its sadly also true that Microsoft would not replace my Marketplace purchases when I started a new gamertag and username. You can believe what you like my friend but I know what the truth is and have countless email conversations from Microsoft and Asobo to prove the fact. I hope that you never end up in my position as you would have to EAT your BS comment. My PC was a brand new build by myself, had no issues, Microsoft also took control and did a clean install of Windows 11 as they thought this might have been my problem after upgrading from Windows 10. Quite frankly your comment is unfounded and you have no knowledge of what I went through and the cost to get back up and running was the cost of the sim again and also the replacement cost of the majority of my Marketplace add ons, some I didn't bother with again but the majority I did. You can believe what you like fella but every word stated in previous comment is absolutely true.

    Haha, again..what a bunch of BS! You don't build computers as you wouldn't need MS support to do a windows reinstall if you did. Microsoft did a reinstall of Windows 11 remotely? Get out of here...i call BS! I haven't seen that in more than 25 years of professional IT experience. And in the previous comment you stated that THEY corrupted your data storage? If that were true, they would be obligated to provide you with a new drive.Also you created a new username and expected them to give you all the addons for free? Nobody in their right mind would do that!

    I created a new username and gamertag on their advice as it was the only fix to get a fresh data storage image. This I did but they refused to move my other purchases from my previous account....you are dumb, I'm finished here as you are a muppet.

    Dam, right, that idiot has no idea what I went through for 3 months, and at a cost of nearly £1000 to start over again. I don't care if he believes me or not, the entire episode is 100% true and Microsoft did corrupt my my cloud data storage but I ultimately paid the price. Anger is an understatement I am livid that this happened to me and when people spout off at the mouth who don't even know me or what I went through, yes, I get angry. Happy flying :-) (Look happy face)

    I have better things to do with my time than sit on this computer spouting BS, and just to put this conversation to bed, here is the youtube video that I posted back in January of this year. Once again I will stress that I have better things to do than spend hours creating a video & sharing it to the world if it is BS. This video ends before zendesk finally found an answer to my issue in May 2022. The answer was a reinstall and the problem lay firmly at their feet as they corrupted my cloud data because we have no control over it all. I posted this video to enlist the help of others who were also suffering from CTD. It was me that escalated this issue and registered a ticket with zendesk. The video is here and any negative comments calling me a liar will be deleted and that person blocked from my channel. My video and my statements here are all 100% correct, there is not even a tiny White lie included. Period.

    Brilliant idea to launch x-plane.to - there is already a huge amount of good free add-ons but having them in one place instead of spread across multiple sites/forums is going to be a real asset to the X-Plane community.

    Yom have not reply to the fact that your problems is so complex it cannot possibly the simulator's fault. You must be some enemy of the Microsoft that they picked on you to corrupt your files. And if you want to complain about the low quality of the add on aircraft , at least be specific not to generalize. Was it that flying donut or flying toilet that did not satisfy you? That is all.     well magicand I have watched your video, O my god you got more problems with chatting with X Box /Microsoft than with your sim Problems with contacts, chatting, Installing windows. I tell you I have very little technical knowledge about computers, not sure about you. but there is a logic to everything, 1. if you had this problem during the first install I would perhaps understand you.Since your sim was working ok to that moment when you started to have a problem it is obvious, that sim is OK . I am not going to guess what caused it, mixing 2 drives, Virus, corrupted registry files. etc. What struck me is the first thing you started to mess around with was reinstalling. Not once you mention virus check, not once you mention registry clean up. or anything of general clean up. Right away to reinstalling. As I said if it worked once it is not the program's problem. Yes I had a problem Like that also, I am not lying it would not start, kept crashing to desktop. I used "ADVANCED SYSTEM CLEAN UP" program and it worked, And my is installed on D drive. That I did because my previous FSX gave me problem on C drive because there were likely too many malwares, viruses or conflicting programs. Once on D, all problems dissapeared. I did not attempt to argue. But in 16 minute video you talk about everything else. And yes there are many people besides you who have similar problems which are not the sim problems but their set up and errors.; Thank you if you read it to the end.

    Thanks for watching but did you fail to see where "Microsoft" admitted liability for corrupting my cloud data or did you simply ignore it? The fix is now available via zendesk and has been since May, take a look there Microsoft admitted the fault was theirs and hence they posted the fix to their own website. I fail to see how its my fault when they admitted liability!! Thanks for the tech tips though I'd forgotten how to suck eggs. Thank you if you bothered to read this to the end :-)

    Listen my friend, I do not care what Microsoft admitted to. I am discussing your original problem , how you tried to solve it. And yes I think you forgot how to suck eggs since you have not mentioned it once. And if you did what did the program told you about corrupted files in registry? Well tell me what did you do from the last shot down to the next "Not starting", there must have been something, You also do not mention how many times you have used the sim from the first install to no starting problem? Is Microsoft liable for that? Or Credited for good Sim?

    What I fail to grasp is what you omitted to answer. It worked for you before did it not? If it was update, why only you? simple questions. Who at Microsoft admitted it. Have you ever talked to tech support on Internet or Tv service You talk to ten different people and get 10 different answers. I give one simple example. I download addon, I unzip it into community folder sometimes it shows up or, nothing shows up in my library. I go back I drag it manually from the opened zip program into opened community folder and there i t was in library. why. and I kept complaining and bitching "Your addon is no good I want my money back, this and that. So there. Million reasons, what is your, Microsoft admission did not caused your your sim not to open, That's all what I am questioning what you do not want to grasp

    Sim Ran Tuesday Jan the something, FAILED to run the following day, I spent weeks talking to Microsoft and Xbox, jumped through all their hoops and nothing worked and the sim kept CTD. After we had exhausted all options a tech from Microsoft in California took over my PC, he got the sim to run but under a different username and gamertag which was of no use to me and he agreed as I would lose all my Marketplace purchases. A lady tech from xBox in Nigeria then got involved and she also took over my PC. The entire machine was restored back to nothing & she requested that she perform a clean install of Windows 11 to be sure that it wasn't me doing something wrong. This was agreed and as a result we lost contact during the re install as the internet connection was cut. After the install I re installed the sim application, not the entire sim as that takes hours and starts once the app gets past the splash screen. The splash screen duly appeared and as before at this point when syncing data with "THE CLOUD" not my community folder or a HDD the sim crashed back to desktop again and again. I filed a ticket with Zendesk in March after 2 months and also chatting with the 2 tech people who took control of my Computer they admitted that the fault occurred when I exited the game on the Tuesday in January and that my cloud data sync had become corrupted as it was not saved correctly to THEIR cloud. They did not know how or why but said that the fault was with them and they were looking into a fix. My only option was to re purchase under a new gamertag and username (This cost me a fortune as I also re purchased most of the marketplace add ons that had been lost and which Microsoft said they were unable to move across (something I doubted to be honest) or I could wait for a fix but that could have taken months which it did. In May Microsoft posted a fix for this issue to zendesk and apologised to anybody who had suffered a data corruption, they did not cite why this had occurred but simply posted a fix. I assume there are others and I am not the only person on the planet? This came too late for me though as I wrongly took the step to re purchase under a new ID. So, 2 of the brightest IT specialists on Earth both took control of my PC and they found NOTHING wrong with it at all. That is all I know and all I can tell you. What I do know is that it had nothing to do with me at all!

    Thank you. Listen I am the last person who wants to irritate you. Because of lack of knowledge of computers I do imagine frustration you are going through. It is the way you describe your actions sometimes does not make sense. You talked so much in your video what you did who you spoken to about your lost connections and market money lost etc. You talk weeks with Microsoft, I am sure you had enough of it. But when I read your firsts line I got kind of surprised that you perhaps expected opinions of others here and when I ask you about the registry clean up , you attack me with "Sucking eggs" And with the computer experience you seem to have only thing here you say "SOMETHING" failed to start the sim on Wednesday. Well was it not that something your main problem. Right away you go reinstalling. Not mentioning anything about "Restore or all other options." And since you omitted mentioning those first steps in here, people including myself reacted the way we did. So since you reinstalled your windows it is impossible for Simulator not to run without being connected to cloud and it must have been problem there. Your complaint in video is extensive , but the information for people here is non existent and you want reaction /opinion from people here to give advise or analyze the situation. So do not get mad at me or JaroGtrozni. To say that many people had problem with CTD is also very unfair, since you do not elaborate on their problems , I am sure there must be dozens of reasons in their CTD without even you knowing about them.     Xplane 12 clouds need a lot more work, IMO. The clouds are blurry and the cloud shapes are very weird. Ben Supnik from Laminar Research just posted today that they had to cut back on the quality of the clouds to keep the FPS reasonable. In any case, the clouds in XP 12 need a lot more work, and LR acknowledges this.

    I unfortunately made the $60 donation. It looks great but with all of the work MSFS has in it, why does Laminar have such a hard problem with the flight environment? My PC runs MSFS2020 with ease but it suffers with x Plane 12. I wish that Toliss would create for MSFS2020. So disappointed with the Vulkan out come. I went to X Plane years ago because FSX was DOA. I only use XP11 because I've got about $1000 worth of addons and aircraft tied into it. Good luck Laminar. Back on Microsoft. But I will be hoping for some updates with XP12.

    When you log in your profile doesnt youre Marketplace items show up? Mine do.. and Ive installed it more than once. No corrupted drives or anything. maybe youre doing something wrong.

    I had crash to desktop similar because I ran out of drive space. I was installing my sim to my E drive but the roaming profile was installing onto my C which was low. I simply changed the roaming info within the game over to the D drive and problem solved. Not sure if that may help but it solved my issue. Ive got about 35 years of IT experience so it was a no brainer. Just a tip. Maybe itll help maybe it wont
