First: from the cover photo I think Tom Cruise doesn't go there when it's something about Pablo Escobar.
Second: you can see that they tried to do it perfectly because according to their era, and I really liked the images, the models are not the same, which is why I say that they tried to do it as faithfully as possible.
Third: the settlement in which it is located is in a prison, therefore the real hacienda of Pablo Escobar is the recreation park itself, more precisely where the landing strip is.
here the coordinates: 5.922954, -74.727536
fourth: from what I know and because I visited the Hacienda Napoles recreation park, they explained the entire history of it to us, I'm not going to tell much, but Pablo Escobar had a tremendous mansion
These are the coordinates of it 5.923766, -74.720166
fifth: from what I knew, long before it was a whole park it was a whole area with a lot of diversity of animals, for which there were:
elephants, zebras, giraffes, dromedaries, hippos, buffaloes, kangaroos, flamingos, ostriches
If you want to know more, you have to read his documentaries, and other things about him:
Here is a summary via Wikipedia.
The Nápoles hacienda was established in 1978 by Pablo Escobar and his cousin Gustavo Gaviria, with the sometimes forced purchase of other smaller properties, which were later brought together into a single property of nearly 3,000 hectares under the name of Hacienda Nápoles. A series of works were immediately started that aimed to beautify the place, where buildings with dozens of rooms, roads, six swimming pools, 27 artificial lakes, its own gas station, an airplane landing strip, heliports, hangars, and a exotic arborization that included palm trees and stables with horses.
At the Napoles ranch there was a bullring, racing cars, jet skis, motorcycles for tourist rides, as well as a 1934 Chevrolet model that had been filled with bullets to make it look like that of the legendary criminals Bonnie and Clyde or Al Capone. , whom the drug trafficker admired. It had an important zoo, with rhinos, elephants, camels, hippos, zebras, giraffes, cranes, impalas, deer, tapirs, kangaroos, flamingos, ostriches, a pair of black parrots unique in the world , among others, were exhibited there. All the animals were brought to INDERENA based on bribes.
The hacienda, whose land was valued by Escobar at 4.5 billion Colombian pesos in 1983 (57 million dollars at the time), in addition to being the meeting place for the leaders of the Medellín cartel, Gonzalo Rodríguez Gacha, Carlos Lehder, the Hermanos Ochoa Vásquez, etc., was a meeting and resting place for thousands of visitors, linked or not, to the cartel's businesses.
Beyond this, the hacienda itself is a reflection of the rise and fall of Escobar and the Medellín Cartel; Since 1978 it was at its peak but in 1984, after the assassination of the Minister of Justice Rodrigo Lara Bonilla, the Escobar family took refuge in Panama, which is why it was partially neglected. Escobar's subsequent return marked a new period of prosperity. which continued even in the era of Narcoterrorism, when the State security forces besieged the Medellín Cartel. Its owners could not return to it; In 1991 the surrender was made and in 1992 Escobar escaped from justice, during this time some animals were collected by zoos throughout the country and the property was occupied several times by the public force. Perhaps this preserved it from enemy action, but not from total abandonment after Escobar's death in December 1993.
The Hacienda Nápoles was expropriated by the Colombian State after a long judicial battle, and after other fights against criminal organizations. After the death of its owner, an extensive judicial process began, which finally, and with a final ruling, was ruled by the First Specialized Circuit Court of Antioquia, by means of an order dated February 16, 2004, which was confirmed on February 12. August of that same year by the Superior Court of Antioquia, in which the extinction of ownership over nearly 3,000 hectares of land, already abandoned and punished by time, that made up the hacienda was declared.
This court ruling handed the property over to the National Narcotics Directorate, which for several years carried out all the necessary studies and processes to find the best way to dispose of it. Finally, this government entity of the Colombian State decided to divide the property, and through Resolution No. 0022 of December 3, 2004, awarded a part to the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute, Inpec, who built a medium security prison there, in so much so that the central core of Hacienda Nápoles, already in ruins, marked by abandonment and problems of all kinds, was handed over as its property to the Municipality of Puerto Triunfo, Department of Antioquia, through Resolution No. 037 of December 16 of 2005.
At first, this award was more of a problem than an acquisition, since for Puerto Triunfo it meant receiving an abandoned asset in which no one had an interest. A victim of looters, abandonment and a bad reputation, Hacienda Nápoles was offered to anyone who wanted to take it over, but no bidders came forward for a couple of years.
At the end of 2006, a company from the city of Medellín proposed the creation of a theme park.
