GSX PRO LPPI PICO AIRPORT PROFILE

Pico Airport (Portuguese: Aeroporto do Pico) (IATA: PIX, ICAO: LPPI) is an airport located 8 km (5.0 mi) from Madalena on the Portuguese island of Pico in the archipelago of the Azores.

History
The first studies were completed to construct a runway for the remote island of Pico during the post-War era when, instead, a final decision in 1946 saw the construction of an aerodrome on the island of Faial.  It was only on 5 May 1976, when the construction of a runway and terminal building began on the island of Pico, under the initiative of the Portuguese army, but completed under the administration of the Regional Government of the Azores.

The runway was inaugurated on 25 April 1982: at the time the runway was only 1,200 metres (3,900 ft) long, with limited capabilities for large aircraft.  This infrastructure was constructed in a morphological area that only permitted its construction oriented east to west, making it susceptible to dominant southerly winds, raising questions as to its original construction.

In 1990, with the arrival of new ATP aircraft for SATA Air Açores' fleet, the decision was taken to extend the runway, to improve operations with this type of aircraft.  With the completion of this extension, the runway reached a 1,520 metres (4,990 ft) length and widened to 30 metres (98 ft).  A dozen years later, the runway was once again extended in order to support future medium-size jet or turboprop aircraft: at its inauguration the new runway extended to 1,745 metres (5,725 ft), a new terminal building was concluded with parking area, new control tower, first aid station and firefighting centers, in addition to new cargo warehouse.

In April 2005, Pico received its first direct flight from Lisbon.  The airport had regular connections with Lisbon via TAP Portugal (til 2015) and Azores Airlines (from 2015 and as of today) and inter-island flights to other islands: in 2008, SATA Air Açores was responsible for movement of 58,000 passengers from the airport.

Geography
The airport on Pico is situated 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) from the urban center of Madalena, at an altitude of 34 metres (112 ft) above sea level.  It is divided between the two civil parishes of Bandeiras and Santa Luzia on the northern coast of the island, located along the regional E.R.1-1ª roadway between Madalena and São Roque do Pico.

Managed by SATA Gestão de Aeródromos, it has an 1,745 metres (5,725 ft) operational runway (oriented 09/27), with a width of 45 metres (148 ft). The runway is illuminated and can handle evening flight operations (although rare), using VFR or IFR flight rules, while approximation instruments are based on PI locators. The installation of an ILS system was adjudicated around 2010.

NOTE:  This Profile was created by using the DEFAULT Microsoft/Asobo LPPI Pico Airport.  Do Not use this with the TropicalSim Payware as it will cause mismatches at these parking locations and the Sim will ask to create a new .ini file.

Inside this Zip file is one compressed folder and text instructions.  UnZip the compressed file into your favorite unzipping folder, once de-compressed you'll have a folder named GSX Pro LPPI Pico Airport Profile and an instructional text file.  Take the .ini file named "lppi-vmg37l" and copy it into:

%Appdata%/virtuali/GSX/MSFS

making sure that you either DELETE or remove the existing .ini file and move it to a BackUp folder for these files so that you can re-load them if for some reason the new .ini file gets corrupted or if something goes wrong with your copying.  You will notice that I have implemented "Seperate Waypoints for Deboarding" a fairly new function with the recent upgrade to GSX Pro.  You'll also notice that the Terminal Building has 2 Gates for departing PAX and a single entrance for Arriving PAX, both have been used in implementing this new feature that GSX Pro has provided us.  What this means is that there are two different paths for each parking slot.  There are three ( 1, 2, 3 ) parking slots that give a total of six (6) PAX waypoint pathways which is really exciting!  With a little patience and time you can create great profiles for your scenery addons (airports).

**** SPECIAL ****

In Cooperation with other MOD Creators on FlightSim.to I would like to share a link that SELF-INSTALLS GSX Pro Airport Profiles directly into your "%APPDATA%\Virtuali\GSX\MSFS" Folder. The Application is Called "Drag&Drop Installer for GSX Pro Profiles", this impressive little App will take away any searches or finds that you will have to do to locate the folder necessary to copy your GSX Pro Airport Profiles into.  Created by >>Elevate Solutions<<, a collaboration between >>FatGingerHead<< and smatthew. Click >>HERE<< to access the link to the Drag & Drop Installer Application.  Please remember that this application ONLY works for GSX Pro Airport Profiles, NOT Aircrafts created with GSX Pro.

*** NOTE: ***

ONLY FOR AIRCRAFT THAT DO NOT HAVE AN EFB TO CONTROL PASSENGER NUMBERS:
One of the things that help with immersion with ALL Simulator Aircraft are the payload settings, for you to get the most PAX on an aircraft when boarding and deboarding you need to set the payload settings in the sim for these aircraft between 30% - 100%.  You can save these settings by pressing "Save" and giving it a name or leaving the default name given to the file generated. If not done, the most you will see boarding and deboarding - in most aircraft that do not have an EFB to allow for Passengers, would be approximately 1 - 4 passengers.  With this setting set to 100% you will get the max PAX payload that the aircraft can accommodate. REMEMBER to do this, or your simulation immersion will be hindered to the lesser load of the aircraft.

**** IMPORTANT ****

When using this profile please make sure that the nose-wheel of the aircraft is always on top of the Parking Slot "Stop Here" line. If the aircraft is not on that line, then re-position the aircraft so that it is. You can do that by using the GSX Main Menu, choose 0 - Reposition aircraft and then choose 1 - Reposition here at current gate. Also, if that does not work you can always start from the runway and reposition the aircraft from there to the Parking Slot you want to relocate your aircraft to.

**** CONTACTING ME ****

I have been getting a lot of messages sent to me at my upload pages. Grant it, I do look at these pages from time to time but when messages are added at the bottom of the page, I do at times miss them. I do however always have my DM open and look at ALL my messages there, for future messaging to me please use the DM feature to send ALL messages to me, you can use the comment section of the upload page for just that, comments. Any support issues I would like to have them sent to me via DM.
