Year 1941: The first DC-3 arrives in Argentina fulfilling pioneering work in both civil and military aeronautical history, having been an important protagonist in the development of Patagonia.

They have gone to the South Pole as the first Argentines to do so and have carried out more than 1000 medical rescue flights, being the plane that has flown the most in the history of Naval Aviation. They were used by almost all the local airlines of that time: Zonda, Aeroposta and Alfa, which in 1949 were inherited by Aerolineas Argentinas.

Year 1979: the last Naval Aviation DC-3 rests in Ushuaia, it is the 5 Tango 22 (5-T-22) "Cape Horn". It landed to stay permanently on July 28, 1979, under the command of Captain Jorge Livraghi, and Lieutenant Commander Carlos A. Cortalezzi traveled as pilot. In his useful life he flew more than 40,000 hours.

Year 1985: It is withdrawn from the current site and is located next to the guard of the Naval Air Base. Later it is placed in a hangar.

Year 1989: it begins to be dismantled and transferred in order to be assigned to the Musep de Aviación Naval, located near the Bahia Blanca Airport. A ProAvion DC-3 Commission is formed, made up of various representative entities and residents of Ushuaioa, which manages efforts through ratification of Ushuaia as the final destination of the plane.
