Hi,
nepstudio-knottsberryfarm-earth and nepstudio-SanDiegoState-earth folders are no more in the downloaded archive.
Have these become useless?
Thanks

I think so. I looked at both areas and did not see any upside. No sense in adding more to the community folder if it is not an asset.

Thank you for creating this scenery.
The next information is not a criticism but simply advice:
Update the name of the modellib.BGL file in all of the scenery files (only some have been processed like this) to reflect MS/Asobo guidelines (Oct. 2020) to give it a unique name, such as adding the 'ICAO code' for airports to the file: Example (ICAO-modellib.BGL) or in this case, maybe SEW-socal-modelLib.BGL, and then update the layout.json file to reflect the new name. Always give each modelLib file a unique name. This may not affect your files now, but could in the future with other developers.
The Problem: MSFS only reads the first file in the Community folder named modellib.BGL and then uses that file for all others with the same name. Renaming it avoids conflicts with any other scenery in the Community folder and gives your scenery the proper appearance with fewer problems/conflicts with other files in the Community folder.
The same is true for the 'mycompany' folder. If other companies use the 'mycompany' folder name, then conflicts can occur.
The same is true for 'mymaterials\' if that ever applies to your scenery.
The same is true for 'MaterialLibs\textures\' or 'MaterialLibs\mymaterials\textures\' if that ever applies to your scenery.
Just remember to update the layout.json file so the entries match the folder or file names.
I hope you don't this as a criticism of your work, because that is great.
Read about the issue 'modellib.BGL' for developers at:
https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/scenery-creators-please-move-or-rename-your-modellib-bgl/307563
*Sometimes other creators can cause the conflicts, not necessarily yours.

I did not take it as criticism but as advice. Typically I manually edit the XML files to reflect the same name as the name I give the scenery folder. Therefore on package build everything lines up. I Am not sure about modelLib though. I will look that up. There are times when I am in a hurry or building something for a one-off that I do not go through the process. As for conflicts, I don't know, I have not seen a conflict that I know of and I have approximately 500 scenery folders that I have built. I use roughly 30 scenery folders in the area I live simultaneously. It would be cool if they were all in the same package but there are a few I want separate in the event something better comes along and I can remove without affecting the others. I will look into the modelLib. The way I learned it about two years ago is still the process I use today unless I get lazy. It happens. Thanks for the advice.

awesome man absolutely awesom!! would u mind doing a norcal coast one and a norcal/central valley one ?
1) Norcal coast would be bay area (SF, oakland, san jose) +Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Eureka, Crescent city.
2)Norcal/Central valley would be Bakersfield, Fresno, Sacramento, Redding.
thanks alot for it. love it

I already have parts of NORCAL up. Specifically the San Fran Oakland area. I will think about it. I have been putting up stuff I have already built but have not built Sacramento yet. We will see. I am getting a little disenchanted with this site. I think I am getting close to 5K downloads. Maybe 16 people have voted and the thanks are few and far between. Typically folks respond when they have a bitch. I get it. That is how it rolls with people. I enjoy helping folks but when I start to feel like a prostitute, yea, that gets old. Anyway, thank you for the kind words. It's rare. :)

I have serious performance problems trying to use these - the regular illuminators plugins are no issue. Am I alone? Literally like 1 FPS trying to fly across L.A., turning down LoD helps a lot but even turned all the way down it's still a stuttering mess on this 10900k. What I could see looked really nice though 😞

I don't have any issues. I was all over the place taking screenshots. The lights are simply GPS coordinates. I will take a look and make sure nothing is in there that does not belong. Long Beach is 800 KB. all of LA Lights together are 473 MB. Knotts Berry Farm and the Sofi mod I got from here are only 199 MB. San Diego State is 1 gig. That is a lot and might be the issue. I will take a look and see if I can find out why it is so large. I will apply an update so, follow the mod. 😊

I think this file just broke the record for the longest 7-zip extraction on this website. Not that I won't use it. Thanks.

Ha! It's the earth files. They are large. The light files are nothing because they are GPS locations on an object BGL.
