Description
NOTE: This mod is no longer being developed but should still work as designed. I recommend using the alternative method listed at the bottom if you do use it.
Flightplans to Provide GA traffic that call the stock MSFS aircraft from the base game.
A note on both installation methods below:
After any MSFS update, the layout.json or trafficAircraft.bgl files may be changed back. This means to keep this mod working after a MSFS update, you will have to change them again.
Description
This is the Stock MSFS offline traffic file with the Commercial Traffic removed. It's main purpose is so that you may add GA traffic back to your sim when using AIG, Simple Traffic, etc. with offline flightplans. It is only usable for Offline Traffic and will not work for Live Traffic. It was made by using AIFP to decomiple the stock MSFS trafficAircraft.bgl file, remove the Commercial Traffic, fix any errors found by validating and then recompiling (pretty much like the original GA mod that's no longer available did). No aircraft are included as it uses only the flightplans and timelines that call the stock MSFS aircraft from the base package of the game. The aircraft you will see are the stock TBM 930, DA40-NG, Bonanza G36, Cessna 152, 208B Grand Caravan and CJ4 Citation. None of the Deluxe aircraft or the added later aircraft (like the Porter) are used in these flightplans (same as MSFS made them). Unfortunately, there's a limit to how many flghtplan legs can be inlcuded in a mod. For this reason the JMB VL-3 flights were removed from the list to stay under the limit.
Installation:
Place the "GA-Stock-Aircraft-Traffic-Folder" with it's files from the zip into your community folder.
Set your ingame AI traffic to Offline (not off or live)
In your MSFS official folders go inside the fs-base-ai-traffic folder and make a backup of the layout.json file that's there. Then open the layout.json file with a text editor and remove the stock aircraft traffic by editing it.
It will read something like:
{
"content": [
{
"path": "scenery/world/traffic/fs10.AircraftTypes.csv",
"size": 4888,
"date": 132379022900000000
},
{
"path": "scenery/world/traffic/trafficAircraft.bgl",
"size": 40726977,
"date": 132914828720000000
},
{
"path": "scenery/world/traffic/trafficBoats.bgl",
"size": 1716075,
"date": 132387798760000000
}
]
}
Remove the trafficAircraft.bgl section and save it so that the layout.json file in the fs-base-ai-traffic Folder now reads something like:
{
"content": [
{
"path": "scenery/world/traffic/fs10.AircraftTypes.csv",
"size": 4888,
"date": 132379022900000000
},
{
"path": "scenery/world/traffic/trafficBoats.bgl",
"size": 1716075,
"date": 132387798760000000
}
]
}
This change to the layout.json keeps MSFS from also using the stock aircraft traffic file which still includes commercial traffic.
Alernate Installation:
Set your ingame AI traffic to Offline (not off or live)
Open the folder GA-Stock-Aircraft-Traffic\scenery\world in the mod and find the file named
GAStockAircraftTraffic.bgl
Rename that file to trafficAircraft.bgl
Now, navigate to the fs-base-ai-traffic\scenery\world\traffic folder inside your official msfs folders. Make a backup of the trafficAircraft.bgl there and replace it with the renamed version from the mod.
The alternative installation does not require editing of the layout.json and it should be left stock.
A note on both installation methods:
After any MSFS update, the layout.json or trafficAircraft.bgl files may be changed back. This means to keep this mod working after a MSFS update, you will have to change them again.
GA Stock Aircraft Traffic
Stock MSFS GA flighplan traffic with Commercial flights removed. This mod provides offline AI Traffic using the MSFS TBM 930, DA40-NG, Bonanza G36, Cessna 152, 208B Grand Caravan and CJ4 Citation stock aircraft from the base game. It's main purpose is to add GA traffic back when used with AIG, Simple Traffic, etc.

I was looking for a mod to generate more GA traffic and found this. Looks to be great, but after installation I have only managed to see TBMs physically in the sim. Fx. at EKSP I can hear all the GA interacting with ATC and see them in LittleNavMap. I can also hear them in the sim if I move the drone close to where they are supposed to be... but I don't see any planes. A lot of Cessna Skyhawks are captured by LittleNavMap but none show in the sim... hope someone can help :-)

something is not right. When used I get a lot of C208 Fedex feeder aircraft and other not so much GA traffic. Not as before with C172s etc. Whats happening

Hi,
Great addon, thanks.
Is there a map of coverage of the flightplans being used at all?
I did some in the UK up near Sheffield where quite a lot were flying around, but around Zell Am See in the Alps there wasn't much.
This was at 75% to 100% density.
It would be nice to have some idea of the density of FP's for an region, so you can choose accordingly if you had it maxed out (or not) in order to make a busy space vs less busy by natural reasons due to less FP's in that area.
Thanks.

Works like a charm! In combination with FSLTL +(aircrafts AIG and FSTraffic)

Will it work together with "Aerosoft Simple Traffic"
Are there also Airliner at the Gates in bigger Airports ?

Hi, I used both installation methods and it is doing nothing. Is this still working or I am doing something wrong?
over 3 years ago
As far as I know by others, it is still working fine.
I myself have been bitten heavily by CTDs (not because of this mod but MSFS generally even with empty community folder) so have not been flying and testing.
about 3 years ago
Oh that's awful. I had that happen several weeks ago out of nowhere.

Could you please elaborate more on FSLTL compatibility? From what I read in the comments, the mod seems to be compatible, although not 'officially'.

This mod adds nothing but GA traffic. Those mods (FSLTL, AIG, etc.) include an extremely limited amount of GA. This mod by itself and those mods have nothing to do with each other aside from the fact that they all add traffic to the sim in offline mode. This mod adds traffic to the sim through a bgl file (the same way the stock msfs offline traffic is added) while AIG and FSLTL use an injection method. This mod and those mods in no way interfere with each other. The sim itself sees them both and msfs internal ATC and AI can manage and handle them both just fine. You can use this mod by itself if you so desire. It was made to replace other GA mods no longer available (one of them went payware). But the main reason this mod exist is so that you can have GA traffic when you use other commercial type (AIG, FSLTL, etc.) offline traffic mods.

Thank you for clarification

How is it, that with this mod installed and AIG not injecting any other traffic, I still get some AIG liveries in the sim? For example Cessna 208B's in Sansa and FedEx liveries...

Hi, installed (in community) and updated the Official layout.cfg. I can only hear the GA planes I can't see them? Is there something else I need to do or is it just an(other) asobo bug? Cheers
over 3 years ago
Again. Once again. Thank you. I don't use AIG but FSLTL at this point since I prefer FSLTL. Using your mod still works with FSLTL. FSLTL still has more GA than AIG but now with your mod I have smaller planes which is amazing!

I found this causing CTD's for me. Do appreciate the work, however.
over 3 years ago
FSLTS has a GA slider, so what does this mod add for FSLTL? My main issue with FSLTL is that many of the GA aircraft have crappy Asobo-like liveries.

@Sonosusto What installation method did you use, preferred or alternate? If preferred, did you make sure to make the layout.json changes? Are you on the SU11 Beta?
over 3 years ago
I am SU10 (no beta), I did mod the json as described. I just found this causing CTD's on approach to airports more often. Maybe Im crazy. I did the preferred method.
