Troubleshooting

This software shoudl be currently considered as BETA, there will be problems, however if anything goes wrong just turn it off and on again, this will fix most problems. If you're using the in-game panel sometimes the server can fail with an error such as:
OSError: [WinError -1073741648] Windows Error 0xc00000b0
If this happens restart the server but the in-game panel will not be usable for the rest of your flight sim session, you will have to fall back to using GS2020 in the browser.

Can this work for the catering, baggage and ground power unit? or does microsoft prevent that

Not yet, there are no quick 'call' events for those services, they have to be manipulated manually and thats a whole lotta work.

How do I know how far to pushback? You should add some kind of planning into the mod

Just go by the length of your aircraft would be my suggestion. Take the A320 for example which is about 120ft, check how many lengths the taxiway is behind you and guesstimate the length required.

I'm currently working on avenues to make something more like X-Plane's 'Better Pushback' with a top-down planner. However, it's rather complex and the SDK is still evolving. Additionally the Pyton simconnect interface is not great so I'm exploring other simconnect options.

Sounds awesome! That was such a helpful feature, I'm surprised they didn't implement an at least usable ground services feature out of the box...

Is someone working on this mod? I really want it, but I don't want it in beta. Has this mod been abandonded?

I work on it when I have time, which isn't super often. I've got a few different paths I'm looking at to move this forward, at the moment there aren't any more ground services features in the SDK yet so I haven't spent a ton of time on it.

If you're waiting to it not to be beta.... you'll be waiting a while. Give it a shot in it's current state, it won't break anything.

You run the server on the same machine as the simulator, but you can connect to the server from anywhere via a web browser. It's going to depend on your exact setup but you should be able to load http://[your machine IP address]:5000/ on your iPad and use the app from there.

restart the application, easiest way to fix any issue is to turn it off and on again.

    Hello

Can I install the server-exe on a second PC or notebook and connect it via local network to the second game PC?
And can this also be done via WLAN?

    Thank you and best regards

I just wanted to give you a heads up that when ever I add the in game panel into the community folder my sim crashes when ever I press the fly no button. Other than that love the program

Yeah for sure, thanks. I'll be doing a lot of work on the in-game panel. The panels have a lot of potential for addons like this.

it's just amazing, but one thing, could you develop these product making a specific application , similar to Pushback Helper?

Web development is my specialty so that's why this is web based. That said I am looking at ways to turn it into a standalone desktop app and/or integrate it more into the sim

Maybe having in an Electron-based container pointing to localhost:5000 and running the server as a sub process will be a one-shot solution for this issue.

Python can be tricky with electron but yes, this is what I’m thinking. It may be possible to move this to be a 100% in-sim addon as well and not require the “server” portion. I’m exploring both options

That's a cool tool, thanks! Is there any way to prevent the stairs from leaving? Like, you can control if the stairs or something else should come or leave, that would be cool.

Not at the moment. There are no events for calling the airstairs, baggage, or catering currently.

What do you mean? When I fly A320, I use ground services to call baggage truck, stairs/walkway, catering and fuel. Am I not understanding you?

    DasBananenbrot replied

But you can do this only with the in game atc menu. I think what he means is, that these ground services are currently not in the sdk so he can't implement them in his mod

Someone else answered you but to expand a little. I'm using SimConnect to communicate with the sim. This allows getting and setting of sim variables (think altitude, heading etc), as well as sending events.

The jetway and fuel truck are called via events, there are no events currently exposed to SimConnect for calling the other ground services.

As soon as I find a way to do call them the features will be in

Do you think it's possible to have like a topdown view like Better Pushback and just click where u want your plane to be at the end of the pushback ?

  • image
    DoctorDingusDDS replied Author

That’s the goal eventually. This is built mostly external to the sim using Python SimConnect and the functionality for this sort of feature doesn’t currently exist via this method. I’m experimenting with other ways of communicating with the sim that may make this possible at some point.
