About

Have you ever wondered what is your most flown aircraft?

Do you want to track total flight-time, whilst not relying on the fragile built-in MSFS Log Book?

Our application will analyse your aircraft and pull out either Hours or Hobbs data and display it in an ordered list (currently a generated text File).

The included (and constantly updated) Aircraft Database then converts the internal names to the real aircraft names and combines all liveries / variants (where applicable) for specific aircraft, to total the hours per plane model.

To get started, just extract, install and run the applilcation. There is a full manual included.

Please read the FAQ here too. It explains a few things that will indeed be asked frequently. :-)

Please feel free to make suggestions and chime in or just come for a chat at the Discord: Phil's Discord

Please uninstall previous version (using Add/Remove Programs) before updating.

Please note: We are getting many missing aircraft submissions with completely random and unfathomable names. For example, "RED"... What is the model of the aircraft and publisher? We cannot add models to the database unless we can find the actual aircraft. So please share some info, or send your email address with the missing aircraft file. So we can ask you about it.Thank you.

Unable to get the program working. On clicking 'start', get message 'writing files' but Lister is blank. Tried in Hours and Hobbs.

Hi and thanks very much for this utility. I am curious as to why the last week and last month lists are showing as empty but the full lists show aircraft I have only flown in the last month.

it says it's writing a file but the folder it opens in empty

Well, strange...

I can't get this software working. After installing and starting the software I get the the window (like the first picture you showing above) but there is neither a "QUIT APP" nor "START" button.

Any suggestion, please?

It only shows usage hours that go back some weeks.

How do I use it to show all the hours and aircraft for all the flights I have done in MSFS ?

And please make this installer so that one can chose where it installs the program. I have no idea where it installed itself.

Good luck with the project. The idea is interesting.

This is such a cool little app! I've been curious what my totals were for the aircraft, and now I can track them! This new v2.0.2 is smokin' fast. The previous v1.5.x wasn't bad at all, but oh man did the search speeds get reduced to nothin!

This is an amazing little app you have made. I can now accurately know how many flight hours I have. There were only 3 missing aircraft though but I already sent the list via the app. So far, amazing job!

A great wee app for finding out and ranking your most frequently used aircraft along with hours flown. Very interesting data. Look forward to seeing where this app goes in future. I'm sure aircraft devs would be interested to know what everyone has been flying the most! I imagine a pooled user db with all that info might be worth something to them. I could even see this being used for a most used aircraft this week "top 10" type thing.

This is an excellent tool. It brings a function to MSFS that should have been in it from day one, the ability to sort out hours flown by a single Aircraft. With continuing input from users, it will get better as time goes on. Great job gents.

Not sure this works... it says I have only 18 hours in total when I have 250 or so.

also it says missing aircraft:

  • Version 3.5.6 August 01, 2022

Added a feature to allow changing of scaling of System Messages area. This is for rare cases where the auto-scaling did not work and the System Messages area could cover up the action buttons. You can access this by clicking on the "System Messages" text. You will then see a dropdown list of scaling choices.
Some other small and rare pupa squashed before they turned into bugs
    Other system messages improved
    Logic improved
Clean-up will run by default on first run

  • Version 3.5.4 July 16, 2022

Added extra message content to the "Send Missing Aircraft" area. We are getting so many missing aircraft submissions with completely random and unfathomable names. For example, "RED"... What is the model of the aircraft and publisher? We cannot add models to the database unless we can find the actual aircraft.
Fixed small rare issue with scaling.

  • Version 3.5.3 July 14, 2022

New button to help users update Aircraft Database
App will not allow START unless database exists or updated
    Auto-open file/folder system improved
Offline working with no internet connection should now be possible, although this will mean user will not have latest aircraft information
    More speed improvements
Updated manual with info about updating database

  • Version 3.0.4 July 12, 2022

Application will now automatically generate both Hours and Hobbs files. This in preparation for some forthcoming features.
Changed dropdown list to "Auto Open", as the files are always generated now you can opt to simply open the folder containing all files.
Added option to open CSV file (if generated).
Changed method of checking if application is running, to avoid non starter loops if app is closed manually.
    Other small issues quashed.
Please note: Manual not updated yet.

  • Version 2.2.7 July 02, 2022

Improved CPU usage of main dialog
    Small fixes
    Awareness raised

  • Version 2.2.6 June 25, 2022

Added new button to main interface that appears only when database is missing or needs updating
Fixed rare issue where Missing Aircraft file would not be removed if empty
More minor issues fixed and tweaked

Frequently Asked

Questions? Find your solution here.

How do you get the nice aircraft names?

The application requires the use of our Database file so that it can compare all your aircraft results and add together models of the same aircraft.

However, there are hundreds of aircraft models. So we use an Aircraft Database file that is regularly updated, to make sure we know what a seemingly random aircraft name should actually be.

The application will spot missing aircraft and provide a Missing Aircraft file that you can send to us so we can update the main Aircraft Database.

This also allows us to sum the hours for different models or liveries of the same aircraft.

Why are there differences between Hours & Hobbs data?

Hobbs readings and Hours readings are different. They are taken from different areas of the aircraft operation. There is a brief explanation of this in the manual.

Why are there differences between my Hobbs/Hours data and my MSFS Logbook hours?

There is no guarantee that all aircraft have Hours or Hobbs data. Some aircraft simply don't record it, or don't record both. The application tries to find as much info as possible but cannot interact directly with the MSFS Logbook.

Also this could be because you have moved your installation, maybe to a new computer etc. without also moving all your old aircraft user data. MSFS Logbook data is stored in the cloud. So that will usually be restored to a new installation.

The data we read with this application is from the App Data area of the computer itself.

A lot of my aircraft are missing

The application requires the use of our Database file so that it can compare all your aircraft results and add together models of the same aircraft.

However, there are hundreds of aircraft models. So we use an Aircraft Database file that is regularly updated, to make sure we know what a seemingly random aircraft name should actually be.

The application will spot missing aircraft and provide a Missing Aircraft file that you can send to us so we can update the main Aircraft Database.

This also allows us to sum the hours for different models or liveries of the same aircraft.

How do you produce the files?

At the time of writing, our Aircraft Database file contains almost 1,000 entries. We expect it to get much larger once users start using the application.

Even if you only have 50 aircraft in your collection, some of them will have multiple entries on your system, for different versions, liveries or types.

For example, all these:

  • aerosoft-crj-700-SKYWEST
  • Aerosoft_crj-700-QantasLink
  • Aerosoft_CRJ_1000
  • Aerosoft_CRJ_550
  • Aerosoft_CRJ_700
  • Aerosoft_CRJ_700_HAWAIIAN
  • Aerosoft_CRJ_700_SKYWEST-N759EV

Are all in fact different versions, liveries or types of the model: Bombardier CRJ Series [Aerosoft]

So, the application first gathers the results of all the different aircraft versions, liveries and types you have. Then compares each one to the Aircraft Database file to find out which actual aircraft base model they are.

This means that the sum of all hours all versions, liveries or types, will be displayed as the base model from the Aircraft Database.

Why do you ask for my email address when I send my list of Missing Aircraft?

We are getting many missing aircraft submissions with completely random and unfathomable names.

For example, "RED"... What is the model of the aircraft and publisher?

We cannot add models to the database unless we can find the actual aircraft.

So please share some info, or send your email address with the missing aircraft file. So we can ask you about it.

Thank you.
