Here are options for a set of 20 or 70 cloudscapes with a spread of properties to provide beautiful and realistic environments for your flights.

The Epic Clouds are not dynamic and they do not interpret live weather although this is something I would like to do when it becomes possible. You might then be wondering what to expect, as sinful_regal did:

Features

The clouds have interdependent weather properties, including cloud cover, temperature, pressure, snow and wind speed.
Winds Aloft is included on each cloudscape, the prevailing wind direction is based on the climactic zone of the cloudscape and will affect your flight time at altitude.

The name includes cloud cover and temperature information using a choice of Fahrenheit or Celcius scales and two sort orders, just choose the installation that suits your preference.
Two sort orders and two temperature scales available so you can view the list in 'cloud cover' order or 'name' order. Both options are have Centigrade and Fahrenheit variants.

Do They Work With Live Weather?

I would like to provide dynamic and live clouds, but Microsoft hasn't provided an official means to control the clouds by 3rd parties. I will look into it, but I don't want to make something that could potentially fall apart after each Microsoft update.

These are great presets. I hope you don't mind but I made a change in where your presets reside.

I had placed the folder "Floyds Epic Clouds v1.7 - (fahrenheit, sort by cover)" in my Community folder as per instructions. Unfortunately, this placed all your presets at the top of the list in the weather menu. Not bad but I use my own presets far more. I have several folders of my own custom presets (based on real-world METARs) in the >>>>>>>> Weather> Presets folder.

I cut your presets out of your "Floyds Epic Clouds v1.7 - (fahrenheit, sort by cover)" and set them into a folder I named, "05_Floyds_Epic_WX" in the "Presets" folder above. This left the folder "Floyds Epic Clouds v1.7 - (fahrenheit, sort by cover)" in the Community folder minus your presets.

The beauty of doing this is, for me, twofold: I now have access to my own presets in the order I placed them before, and your pretty pictures of your preset I've chosen still shows in the weather menu as advertised.

All-in-all great stuff!

This is my very favorite environment addon to MSFS. These appear to be default textures, just delivered in a much more realistic combination than the default clouds. Between this and Rex Accuseason, MSFS looks fantastic. I would have gladly paid money for this.

What I meant by 'layers' is, for example if your camera/view is from inside a cloud, looking through another cloud to the landscape. That's 2 cloud layers. More calculations are required in that scenario than when flying through clear air and looking at clouds that hide the landscape. Translucency is not something one would want to remove since its an intrinsic property of water vapour that has to be represented to obtain a realistic simulation. If the FPS cost to do this is a problem for your setup there are several things you can do to mitigate the situation. (1) Turn down the cloud quality. The sim will put a limit on the amount of detail the sim will render for any cloud set you choose to load and release FPS for other uses. (2) Keep the cloud quality and turn down settings in other areas to release FPS for use on the clouds to use.(3) Use clouds that are less complex. There are 70 to choose from. (4) Wait for MSFS 2024. Underutilised cores will become active and improve FPS all round. (5) Go through all the settings in Windows, Nvidia, MSFS, OpenXR, OpenXR Toolkit and your VR headset to make sure you are not wasting FPS: https://channellfd.com/how-to-configure-msfs-for-vr/

I recommend starting with the ‘high’ setting in the MSFS graphics panel. The least FPS expense is provided by the denser clouds or no clouds. The worst case scenario would be to fly through multiple layers of thin translucent cloud. I could make a collection of just the FPS friendly clouds if there is enough interest in that? Either way, MSFS 2024 could provide a significant boost to the whole sim by spreading the workload across all available cores and hyper-threads instead of saturating just one core (or hyper-thread) as it is at the moment.

They look really nice, but since I fly mostly onlline, I'm stuck using live weather most of the time. Hopefully microsoft releases their weather api so something like this can also work with live weather,

Do the presents have any dynamic change? or is it just one static preset. Say I want to fly from Miami to NYC, would the weather be the same the whole flight?

What does this mean? I tried the celcius and the fahrenheit folders...

You probably moved the entire 'Epic Cloud & User Guide' folder into Addons Linker root folder. Take it out of there and Instead move JUST ONE of the 5 available options to the Addon Linkers folder, enable it and restart the sim. Please refer to the installation guide then the trouble-shooting guide provided as links in the download. If that doesn't work contact me via a direct/private message for in-depth discussion.

If I understand correctly, then they are not used in the "Real Weather" mode?

Microsoft have isolated their live weather system and there isn’t an official way to access it at the moment – unfortunately the presets do not currently represent live weather.
