Update 5/10/2021 - Added Mississippi River texture fix for the Hastings, MN area. Also updated the taxiway textures at 25D.
Update - 5/2/2021 - Version updated to reduce the size of parking locations. This is in order to make it such that AI will not put airplanes in the parking locations as the land based planes it selects do not make sense to be in the water.
Update - 4/29/2021 - Version updated to change icon on maps. The bases all had a tower node which caused the maps to think they were towered airfields. This causes the icons to display as blue (for towered). The removal of the tower nodes causes them to display in the purple color which is correct as these are non-towered locations.
Twin Cities Seaplane Bases
A compilation of seaplane bases under the Twin Cites Terminal Area Chart along with a few edited grass runways.
This download will contain all the seaplane bases I can find under around the Minneapolis-St. Paul Minnesota area. There are two public seaplane bases and 21 private seaplane bases I found in the chart. The goal was to create the airports such that you can spawn there and put a couple parking locations at each. I do not know if default ATC will work with these as I created the scenery with VATSIM use in mind but should easily be navigated by pilots looking for water runways. Note that most of the airports are not charted on the TAC chart but do exist is in the FAA database of airfields (search for them in Skyvector or AirNav).
Below is the name of the airport/seaplane base with the lake it is situated on:
Public Seaplane Bases
8Y4 – Surfside – Rice Lake
09Y – Wipline – Mississippi River
Private Seaplane Bases
0MN0 - Winners Landing – Mooers Lake (Mississippi River backwater)
1MN4 - Wildhurst - Lake Minnetonka
6MN6 - Goose Lake - Goose Lake
11MN - Point - Lake Minnetonka
19MN - Greseth - Schmidt Lake
22MN - Eastman’s Medicine Lake - Medicine Lake
71MN - Mattison’s - Forest Lake
MN02 - Lake Minnewashta - Lake Minnewashta
MN04 - Lake Pierson - Lake Pierson
MN09 - Crystal Lake - Crystal Lake
MN21 - Riley’s Landing - Lake Riley
MN30 - Busch’s Fish Lake - Fish Lake
MN37 - Wayzata Bay - Lake Minnetonka
MN76 - Marty’s Tranquility Base - Spring Lake
MN80 - The Pass - Lake Minnetonka
MY21 - Kollars’ Shoreview Marine - Lake Owasso
MY33 - Rosacker’s Nr1 - Long Lake
MY34 - Jorgensen’s Landing - Lower Prior Lake
MY86 - Johnson - Lake Charlotte
MY96 - Bahnsen - Circle Lake
WI35 - Ceder Lake - Cedar Lake (Wisconsin)
Grass Airfields
35MN - Wipline - Next to 09Y seaplane base
MN24 - Surfside - Next to 08Y seaplane base
19MN - Greseth - This airport has both a water and grass runways
Hard Surface Airfields
25D - Forest Lake Airport - Sim had this as grass; a few years ago it got a paved runway
Bonus scenery
Shoreview Antennas - Since no towers were added as of April 2021 to MSFS, I have added generic radio antennas as these are a VFR visual reporting point on the TAC chart
Mississippi River Texture Fix - There is a section of the Mississippi River north of Hastings, MN where there isn't water where there should be. This is a quick fix to add water back to the river.
All objects used are base sim objects, so nothing new should be required to install. As with any other community-based scenery, these are for general purpose use cannot be used for profit.
Install
All of the individual packages should be installed to your Community folder.
Final Notes
- A few things I was not able to fix – the vehicle traffic at airports I cannot turn off. This sometimes means that buses and fuel trucks may be visible driving on the water. The only way to remove this is to move the scenery sliders for airport traffic to 0%.
- AI aircraft sometimes spawn at the parking spots in the water. The AI does not seem to be able to figure out it is water and will use land-based planes on the water. I have not seen it happen often, but it has on occasion.

This is great! I'd been hoping someone would update Forest Lake (25D) for awhile. It looks great

Thanks! I'm glad you found it! It looks like a nice airport to stop by. I've been near it a few times over the past few years but never made it to see the airport. Some day!

BTW, if you aren't already aware, there are a number of nice scenery addons for Minnesota, here: http://www.usscenes.com/flyinminnesota/ Which includes a work-in-progress addon that adds many of the radio towers (including those in Shoreview) and water towers.
